  • furiousharry, the slang used in industry is "aromatics" for aromatic compounds. But, yes, many of the aromatics are also bad for you.

  • Chemicals that end with "lene" sound, as in gasoline, contain benzene a known carcinogen. Learned this in a work place safety course. The instructor was talking about how xylol doesn't contain benzene but xylene does.
