I hate to be so critical, but as a writer myself, I HATE plot inconsistencies like this, especially when they seem to be used to manipulate the feelings of the audience by taking the easy way out. They needed a heart-rending plot to do this special, so let's just ignore what happened before this and change the story. -_-

How I reconcile the two things (him dying and becoming a doctor) is that he becomes a doctor before dying. It's possible. So, that's how I imagine it, because they don't actually show him dying.

Thankfully much progress has been made with Leukemia & many other diseases that had a extremely high mortality rate amongst children. Of course more progress is still needed.

In reality, Michael Landon didn't want the buildings to remain standing after the show ended.
It may or may not be a rumor, lots of people seem to claim its true, some say he is list as a gay actor. If he isn't that's fine, I won't hold it against him, he is a great actor either way. He has a right to his private life either way, I don't believe folks should be forced out of the closet, unless they are in a position where they directly impact the lives of others, & by their actions they cause harm, such as closeted politicians, religious leaders, etc, working to pass anti-gay laws, etc.

Its never easy coming to terms with losing a loved one, but time does make it more manageable to deal with such a loss. I lost 3 grandparents by the end of the 6th grade, and 2 more relatives by the time I was 18. I even lost one friend in high school, one friend a few years after, & have since lost far too many family & friends. However, like the Engles, you simple deal with life's ups & downs.

From what I read producer Kent McCray said that he believes Albert died because that was there intention. However, a lot of Little House fans believed Albert lived. Suppossidly Michael Landon refused to let a main character die on screen and insisted on the "up to you" ending. Any way Little House was Landon's show and he intended for Albert to have a happy ending at the end of "Home Again". Anyway I guess its up to you.
Albert is HOT! I had a huge crush on him when I was younger and watched the shows on Hallmark. I remember I was very upset when they stopped airing the original Little House episodes and started showing Little House: A New Beginning.

the music on this show was always so touching, WHAT A GREAT SHOW! This show is what acting is all about PURE EMOTION! The scene where Laura says my brother is going to die, was so powerful! WOW! crying is one of the hardest emotions to show when acting, I mean making it believable! I grew up with this show in the 80's and its such good memories for me, I wish TV was this good nowadays.
Ending to this a little over the top - the whole town joining hands at a private/family event? I also find it interesting that once Albert gets his diagnosis, the nose bleeds stop! All said, I still love LHOTP.

If I recall the series, Albert Ingalls does die but not right away. He survives for several more years so he does graduate and become a doctor but the character still dies relatively young.

Albert is HOT! I had a huge crush on him when I was younger and watched the shows on Hallmark. I remember I was very upset when they stopped airing the original Little House episodes and started showing Little House: A New Beginning.

the music on this show was always so touching, WHAT A GREAT SHOW! This show is what acting is all about PURE EMOTION! The scene where Laura says my brother is going to die, was so powerful! WOW! crying is one of the hardest emotions to show when acting, I mean making it believable! I grew up with this show in the 80's and its such good memories for me, I wish TV was this good nowadays.

Ending to this a little over the top - the whole town joining hands at a private/family event? I also find it interesting that once Albert gets his diagnosis, the nose bleeds stop! All said, I still love LHOTP.

This is a great episode however I just realized that in an earlier episode Laura mentions Albert coming back to Walnut Grove as Doctor Albert but than this episode has him dying?! Personally I like the Doctor Albert version better!

If I recall the series, Albert Ingalls does die but not right away. He survives for several more years so he does graduate and become a doctor but the character still dies relatively young.
