Massive tune !! The late 80's / early 90's, US music, UNBELIEVABLE !!!! GnR, Grunge, Pantera, Social D, Metallica (actually, all the Big 4). And not forgetting The Cult from the UK. And AC/DC (Aussie), of course. Amazing times. I've waited 20 years for something similar, and nothing's come close. What's charting today? R & B, EMO groups with 3 to 4 word names [the longer the name the better the group, is that the theory?], pop, rap, Lady Blah Blah, Britney, Beiber etc, VOMIT!!
@jgraham97mc Ten itself was actually a very political album. It's just harder to tell then with some of Pearl Jam's newer stuff. I feel like none of their new albums can come close to be as good as Ten though.
Fuck yes. I'm proud to be a Soundgarden fan because they're so dedicated! Look at those guys pulling Chris back on the stage when he was crowd surfing and forgot his cue! True dedication.
I have never, EVER, in my life span of 18 years, heard any1 sing as good, or even as high as Chris Cornell. He is a GOD to me, Wen he dies, they need to take his vocal chordes out & put it in the ROck N Roll HOF
Chris Cornell is essentially an 80's rock singer, in a 90's rock setting. That is to say that he's awesome. Check out Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, or Sammy Hagar (especially in Van Halen).
Oh I forgot: if you want another one with amazing power and range, check out Steelheart's singer, Mike Matijevic, especially in the song "I'll never let you go".
I always thought Cornell was a better vocalist than Robert Plant, based on the fact he could actually sing like he did on his records, and didn't fuck about.
Absolutely one of THE BEST grunge bands EVER! This is such a SMOKIN' song!!!! Nirvana had nothin' on Soundgarden (and since Cobain perished hisself, they still don't...)
@Radz117 Why does he need to grow up? What he said is completely true, and really wasn't juvenile at all. Maybe you should stop taking youtube comments right up your butt, and grow up yourself?
@Radz117 I'm 49. I'm grown. I have a doctoral degree. I don't have to eat my freakin' lima beans anymore, I don't have to cultivate a taste for port or scotch to fit in, and I've learned to not take myself or life too seriously. Mayhaps you should grow up your own self...
nobody....nobody will imitate this fucking style.....if this music was a bitch she'd be fine as hell and I hit on her.....then she rip my fuckin head off cuz she rocks
This is Soundgarden at their fucking height. I love the Badmotorfinger era more than any other, and this song is amazing. They come out singing it in the movie "Singles" (1992), which also had appearances by Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam.
@Radz117 Well not quite what I was referring to. I appreciate the fact he is a handsome fella. No doubt. He does make me cringe a fair bit though. He is definately on the cheesy side of things. But as they take a massive nod to Led Zep, you can see where he got the whole 'shirt-off ' vibe from. Robert Plant was all about the bare chest.
Still...Soundgarden definatley kick a large amount of arse and I wish I could get a chance to see them.
@Radz117 Do you not think he can be cheesy? Some of his more commercial solo stuff is super cheesy. As are a ton of posed photos with 'blue steel pouts'. He is a model-esque vocalist mixing up rock and roll with commercial projects. Good for him make the money I say. But it's going to get cheesy along the way. Why ask about the Led Zep comment when you already know the influence? None of this is ment with any malice. like I said, I'm a massive fan and have been following them for a long ol time.
I understand you not agreeing with their political ideology, but still, I would much rather a band take a stand on issues that I disagree with than a band who doesn't care and have no opinion, you know? I can see the clashing opinions becoming irritating, but at least they have a meaning and a message.
vedder isn't a complete pussy. chicks in tiedye ben n' jerry's tshirts loved him in the early 90s, the same ones who coveted dave mathews. guess my outlook is just tainted by that
Even still, Vedder very much has his appeal for the darker crowds. He may not have been a heroin junkie, but some of the themes on Ten were fuckin harsh and very dark, no doubt.
Stop bloody comparing. A fine band and one of many to come from a city and also a time of great music. For the record Eddie Vedder is the best singer from the grunge era. Incredible singer.
@barker888 Technically Chris is a better singer because his range is about four times bigger then Layne's or Eddie's. This isn't to say Layne and Eddie are bad singers though. They're both amazing and I fucking love their voices. Chris though, Chris actually took years of opera lessons and did shit like running and working out, all to train his voice and stretch it out so he could sing the way he does. Layne and Eddie are good, and I respect that you prefer them. But Chris is better. Rock on!

@ScottAOD I've seen that, it's not as good because his voice is not as powerful and he doesn't have to sing in quick succession.

I'm pretty sure that's a demon that possesses Chris during the chorus...those notes are God like.
