  • U forgot to tell everybody that it caught on fire before it was finish cookin' !

  • hmm. i just took a box put some tinfoil in it taped two sides down poked holes in the sides and set it outside in the sun.

  • I have never seen that before, very cool idea!

  • That is like the la china. A vid of how you made it would be cool.

  • It looks kick ass, Awesome!

  • Hey, Bruce - what is it called when you BBQ with the heat source above the food? I've never seen this before. What are the benefits? Like zihyer said, it seems to waste a lot of heat.

  • Actually this is basically an outside oven that is like a roaster. One thing that can be done is that a grill can be attached to the top for hamburgers or hotdogs for whoever don't want whats inside. I would not call this a BBQ cooker since it is not smoked. This is the cajun version of pig in the ground. I also have a La Caja China someone gave me that I've never used, but may before the summer is over. We'll see as time goes by .... Its makes a pretty interesting conversation at festivals

  • @na5m La caja China ...its Cuban I think....they work but not my style.

  • Nice cooker.. I mean microwave

  • Hey Bruce, we put some asbestos fireplace insulation on the one's we build to prevent burning the box.

  • Hey Bruce/ Love the vids but could use some commentary on some facts re. the materials used, dimensions, marinade, cooking time etc...Thanks!

  • Hand me over the vinegar sauce!!!!!!

  • If that ain't the derndest thing!!!!!

  • hey yo, gimme a piece of that. I could sniff it through my boxes. MMMMMMMMM!

  • can u BBQ over it too while roasting

  • Yes, I'm building a grill top for it. Bruce

  • cool, i'd like to see that

  • wow this vid is making me hungry lol

  • This idea amazes me b/c the Chinese are accredited with coming up with it despite the fact they are known for their efficiency. Heat rises so this would make this a rather inefficient use of heat, correct? Am i missing something or is this right? I saw another version and they said the coals had to be changed every hour.

  • Very neat. I was actually thinking about builing one... Did you use the plans you buy? Maz

  • No Maz I just saw some a few years ago in Louisiana and decided I'd google some pics. I totally built this from just looking at photos. Bruce
