  • WOW!! Thanks for sharing this one! Been listening to Sandman since '84 when he formed Treat her Right-this is the bomb!

  • best morphine live video on youtube.

  • @badsign1980 Keep your racist opinions to yourself, please. Do you actually think there would be Rock and Roll without folks like Louis Jordan, Chuck Berry, Little Richard? Or R & B singers like Irma Thompson (Who wrote and recorded "Time Is On My Side", which the Rolling Stones stole), or countless other singers whose songs were recycled by white singers who made themselves millionaires. Like any hip hop guy is worse than Kei$ha, either. Please. Buy a vowel, badsign.

  • @kerriober Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for knowing your history.

  • They are great!!

  • 2 string bass and a bari sax - without singing they can ONLY make a single chord. But they make it sound so good. You're good. Good. Good. You're good. Sorry, went off on a tangent there. Maybe I should throw my drugs way...

  • I have been totally in love with this band since like 1996 - in highschool !! No One Can Even Come Fucking Close to Morphine !!

  • Let´s clone Mark Sandman!!!!

  • great

  • God, I miss him so much. It makes me so sad. So many untalented fuckers are still walking this Earth...and he had to go and die.

  • DANA COLLEY=TOTAL INSPIRATION.

  • fantastic!!! such a sence for music!!! new favorite band:))

  • Dana Colley = Bari Sax God

  • This is such a great song. And a great band. Morphine can get deep. Miss Mark Sandman :(

  • Dis is from the munchkin from down under. The reason why the titan is sweat'en so much and it's not just because of the lightingis because his hept-up on morphine or china white as we call it and what it do'se

  • ele tem nada haver com o chico buarque

  • everyones sitting down and the guys sweats alot its kinda gross but its really good music

  • He sweats because it's hot and he's been drinking a lot of coffee and smoking cigarettes. :D

  • they disanded exactly ten years ago this year - time for a renunion sometime shortly surely?

  • They disbanded after one died sir, I wouldn't hold out for that reunion

  • I miss Mark so please don't take it the wrong way when I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read your post.

  • hilar!

  • They changed their name, they didn't disband really. Look for Twinemen. They got a girl singer, and they're still alive and kicking.

  • I dunno, think they're doin the same thing as Nirvana and just leaving they're legacy as it is.

  • they played honey white for the first time in 10 years with Les Claypool on friday, i was there... was a fucking emotional moment, i was in shock when they came on stage... epic....

  • They're still around, but they're called the Twinemen now. The singer, Mark Sandman, is dead, though. His replacement is the suavely hypnotic Laurie Sargent. They've got a couple videos on here. You can also try Bourbon Princess and AKACOD. The saxist from Morphine, Dana Colley, is in both bands.

  • Perhaps there will be another tour by Morphine Orchestra. Even if they do, they won't be coming to my country. :/

  • I love bass guitar

  • sandman tuned drop D. he strings the two middle strings of the bass drop D to A. pretty much every morphine song is in the key of D

  • He didn't play in "drop" D because he didn't have an E string to drop. I've heard that he usually tunes his strings to fifths, but I've also heard the sometimes he'd even tune them in unison.

  • What a stupid semantic quibble. Every guitar player on earth knows exactly what he meant by "drop D," even if Sandman actually "dropped" his A string instead of the E. 99% of the time, he tuned to D and A (yes, a fifth), just like the bottom two strings in dropped-D. It's like you're trying to confuse people.

  • Hmm. I play guitar, I'm on Earth (I believe), and to me a "drop D" is when you drop the low E string to a D. It's like you're confused or something . . .

  • I know what dropped D is, idiot. I was responding to another person who said that Mark Sandman wasn't using dropped D. You should read my post more closely. what I was saying was that his two strings were tuned to D and A, as they would be in dropped D tuning, and that it doesn't make a difference if he didn't use the E and A strings to produce this tuning--it can still be called "dropped D" as far as I'm concerned. Now go away.

  • Hmm, sounds like someone needs his diaper changed.

  • i think Buena is in C

  • It's also cool if you drop the A to G. Some dude on ultimate guitar wrote that in the tabs of French Fries with Pepper. I don't know if he's right or not, and frankly, i don't give a shit, but it sounded (still does) real cool.

  • Awesome. Anybody know Sandman's tuning?

  • Morphine = rock for adults.

  • man, he just knocks shit out of that bass! good good shit

  • is this around the time when claypool played a set with morphine?

  • too much baby, too much

  • How cool are Dana's shorts? (and sox for that matter) :)

  • wonderful. shame is such a good song. i'm so glad i got to see morphine perform during the '97 horde tour.

  • yeah, he sweats ALOT. Died on stage of heart failure.

  • Sweating profusely is fun, you should try it sometime. Get off the couch.

  • I agree...

  • Great stuff! Thanks for posting!!

  • I agree, he looks rather gnarly in this vid.

  • morphine ça dechire

  • wow he looks pretty sick. but he was great. is that billy conway on drums, btw?

  • Listening to Morphine I want to change from guitar I've been playing for 10 years to bass. First time in my life. The sound is magic.

  • great! thanks for posting

  • Oh, I miss this dude. I'm sorry to see him looking so sick. Such a gorgeous talent gone too soon. Thanks for posting the vid, I know you feel the pain, too.

  • Quanto darei per vederlo cantare... Quanto avrei voluto stare in prima fila... Grandissimo!

  • In just about every live video of Morphine I've watched here on youtube, Mark Sandman looks as though he just crawled out of a pool. Understandably, playing music under those hot lights can be exhausting, but damn could that man sweat.

  • I heard he died due to heart damage that occurred when he was stabbed in a mugging years prior to his death.

  • From what I read that was not the cause. It probably did not help though.

  • morphine was amazing

  • Thank you for posting this.RIP Sand!

  • Super, RIP Sand!

  • Long live "Low Rock"! Morphine rules!

  • Amazing. Yes!
