I would like to know where exactly that you bought the water tank from and the cage. I would absolutely love to have a set up like this. I have seen something on the lines of this before on a television show called "Growing Power." With this setup and with the use of some heirloom seeds and a green house or grow dome, you could max out your yeild year round! Awesome video and thanks for putting it on youtube!
I am wondering if you are still at this. If you don't have this set up in a green house right now, try using a clear 4 to 6 mil plastic sheet draped over your whole system to keep the heat in. Check your daytime temps so that it does not get too hot. Plant cold crops like spinach and leeks for growing in the winter.
Great vid. I can do this at the shack, using local materials and fish. I can use the solar power to run pumps, and I wonder about wrapping the set up in black plastic for solar heat?
@Aquaponic also if you are considering ever buying chickens, you can house them in the same green house, sectioned off, and their body heat will add to the thermal mass of the greenhouse.
I didn't have any problems with the system, njust had to check and make sure everything didn't freeze up. I also never fed the fish until the water temp rose above 50 degrees.
Do steel uesd it

Did you have any freeze problems in the spring when it thawed out? Split pipes, grow beds or tanks?

You have to have your system in a green house in this set up. The productivity of these systems is dependent on temprature

you could also use heat mats from some clonings beds or something

You could also use white rocks because they radiate the sunlight, so they'd make stuff around them hot. Black ones for hotter soil.
