Just a tip it helps to lower your center of gravity and put your knee in there back this will stretch out the lungs and make breathing more difficult, not to mention nearly impossible to get out off because it's their strength vs your strength + your body weight.

I just learned about this, while watching a video game called MK9. A character (female military officer Sonya Blade) uses a garrote as a finishing move. She decapitates them in the game.

@someguyhunter:There's fishing string stronger than that for 1000lbs+ fish such as marlin,tuna,sturgeon,& large sharks.That would definitely make a awesome garrote to remove a sentry.

for any type of choke method remember that strength is a very important part of it. someone stronger than you or someone with a thick neck might easily overpower you if you try to choke them.

if you dont think you are strong enough, its better to rely on things that are hard and made of metal or something. if you are weak a very sharp blade or very hard light baton will yield better results.

fishing wire is EXTREMELY tough by the way. some can even hold fish weighing over 500 lbs! VERY strong!

So what is the right length of rope? I made one that feels like it's perfect to wring my neck, but it's only 14 3/4'' long. Yours is much longer than that. I tested it on my calf wich is exactly the same diameter as my neck. Is there some reason it needs to be that long? How could this work against someone holding a gun? in the 10 sec that it takes to kill them couldn't they grab their gun and fire it, alerting all the other gaurds and possibly shooting you in the leg or stomach?

The knot in the middle is also for swinging attacks from the front. For example, if you throw a straight right punch, and your enemy dodges it, the knot's weight lets you swing the wire around his neck easier using your left hand end. Once it's looped, you can position your leg behind theirs and you can lift them up with your hip from there. Same positioning as a takedown throw.

That's some great vids you got there. You should think about some clips where you get a sparring partner and he attacks you. Some defending techniques against a moving enemy. But nevertheless, those tricks are awesome.

Depends on material used in a garrote.Cloth would take seconds(5-9)for k.o & would kill if held longer.Piano would cut & decapitate if held long.

If you choke them for 10 seconds (fact) they'll pass out but a little longer then they'll die.

Hey thanks for the info Chaves. Before this I was using a method I found in an old CIA handbook; you would have your left hand behind the neck (as if your gonna punch it), use the right hand to wrap it around the neck, and pull in opposite directions (left hand pull left and right pull right) more of a cutting technique perhaps?

The knot is a Thuggee technique with a rope,which actually works more effective.Wire garrotes don't need it because it digs deeper.
