Yes, if you have alot of money in the bank Vero would be a great place to live. Lots of eager people to take advantage of. Look out for the crazy girl, she will take everything.
personally i love Vero Beach i've worked my ass off my entire life. for years i worked 90 hour weeks in a prison. now at 46 i am retired and loving life in vero. why are so many americans so eager to look for a free ride like it is an entitlement. if you receive assistance that means someone has to pay more in taxes so you can receive it. and by regular jobs maipai101 you been unskilled jobs. than maybe more people should try harder early in, life. you reap what you sow.
Vero is cool if your rich and 70 or above, but theirs nothing else for the youth to do but get in trouble. its a retirement community that all the retired rich snobs won't build simple things like a hangout or skate park because they think kids are trouble. Well maybe if they built us one we would stop getting tickets and fines for riding a piece of wood down the sidewalk. And if kids aren't doing things like skateboarding or sports, their ether fighting or doing drugs. Trust me, i know.
@IceeProductionsYT Thats the truth! So many people have came up to us saying they will talk to the city about building us a skate park but of course the retired rich looks down on the broke youth and the verdict is always a no. Theirs nothing for us to do but go to the beach and play sports but that gets old. And if you go to the mall they treat you like your from another planet. More kids get in trouble because of boredom in this town. Build us a super play or like a hang out area or something.
ummm..Undertow as in the restaurant is pretty amazing, too. and I can't believe you all let this one pass: Mr Manatee's = swamp food. One of the best things about Vero are the amazing restaurants and I assure you, that ain't one of 'em. If you want great casual dining in Vero try the Red Onion! Geez, I miss home.
God, I hope it doesn't turn into the Hamptons. Part of what makes Vero great is that it's so inconspicuous. Not a lot of attention paid to it, no high-rises (except those two monstrosities to the north and Riomar Sands, the latter of which barely qualifies; long life the zoning code!); just a great place to get away. I don't know of anywhere else quite like it. Coming from a family of snowbirds, I can say that my parents honesly look forward to retirement.
I must agree.. Vero Beach Florida is becoming a type of Hamptons getaway for the people of Miami. The Beach Side anyways folks. Lets not take it literally though :)
Im a Vero Native and im 33 years old. I remember when there was no Windsor, no Orchid Island, and "indian River Drive didn't exist yet. I think Vero has Grown relatively well considering. Ft. Pierce (south) and Melborne , (north) show that Vero has achieved a great balance of everything the original city planners hoped for.. Its not Ft. Lauderdale (for young people) BUT it's not Sarasota (for old people) either . Other than having all the free beachfront i miss growing up with Vero is the Best
Vero Beach is full of crap it has such a high homeless rate and it has no assistance for those who are struggling or low income. No public transportation, and if you are a normal everyday worker good luck finding a job that pays well or gives any hours. Rent is too high and income is too low. Another thing is that Indian River County is very hostile to it's youth. There is no place for them to hang out, and the Mall practically banned kids who are not rich and preppy! Don't let them lie to you!
No, you really don't get Vero Beach It's a getaway for the rich but not the working class. It's very expensive and alot of people are usually out of work especially during the summer months. I live in Vero I know.
@maipai101 Finally somebody understands us! Thank you for proving a point, I skateboard and they always complain about us skating on private property and then fine us tickets but that's because they give us no where to skate at in vero. Of course they say, oh we have one in Sebastian but some of us don't have license to drive and are parents are busy trying to make money. And if kids aren't skating or playing sports, there is nothing for the youth to do but get into trouble in this town.
@maipai101 Interesting. When a community offers to take care of people such as homeless, homeless tend to flock there. And then what takes place? The city is full of homeless who do not want to contribute. Sure some homeless are disadvantaged, but there are programs for those people. If rent is too high and wages are too low, then move. Kids should not be "hanging out". They should be doing something constructive. What have YOU done for the community? Have you created any jobs?
I grew up here, went to Saint Edwards. Trust me this is no Hamptons. There sure is a lot of dinero found in Vero Beach real estate, but this does not make it the hamptons! Visit for yourself and you will learn!
I was born and raised in Vero Beach, lived their 24 years and just let me say, videos like this have helped to DESTROY vero and the natural beauty it USED to hold. I find it very upsetting that the uber rich have skewed the census information and attributed to higher taxes for all and the mis appropriation of funding and dare I say, the screwing of the mainland community entirely.
you're exactly right, it's a real shame... we need more people like you down there... first hale's groves, then the dodgers and now maybe piper will be leaving...
vero has been my second home for 22 years and it is the last town which isn't so developed...
all you who complain are totally oblivious to what vero behold, especially the water... the flats down there rival the keys as you go north towards sebastian...
I lived there and its nothing like that video sure the rich people live on the island, but its mostly a aging suburb development community, that is destroying hundreds of citrus acres for cookie cutter houses. No more indian river citrus since all the trees are being converted to 1/4 acre homes names after the retention pond of stagnit water in the middle, like "waterford lakes"

I disagree. I am 21, my daughter is 2 and there is plenty to do in this town especially if you are a beach goer. Even if you are not a beach fan, there are still plenty of activities to fill your time with.
I love Vero and if you're homeless, get a job and a house!

@NoCompromise83 Their not saying it's Miami. Their saying it's now to Miami what the hamptons are to Manhattan.

Hamptons? A bit of a stretch....still wish there was atleast one vegetarian restaurant and a surf shop that was welcoming.

Southern Comfort Grill, Vero Beach.. Located on 43rd and 60 next to METRO PCS... Check it out!

I live there, and it sucks. The only pepole who would enjoy living here is the 50+ retirement community. . . . It's the Hamptons for old pepole.

i definitely agree...i live here and it is definitely no hamptons
the beach side is nice but its not so nice to make it on tv
and i do not understand at all why people from palm beach come here, because it is not 50 times as nice as it is there..
