I adore Tara. She is witty, loud, a bit brash, and fiercely loyal. I am also fond of the dimensions that they gave her in introducing her family, the facets of her personality, and the loyal but independent nature of her relationships with others. While I cannot entirely see a "racist" figure in her, I can see where people might think that having seen only her first scene. I would like to assert, however, that she is not necissarily racist, but fundementally angry because of her circumstance.

What I liked about Rutina here was that she actually was into the conversation, the way she said 'You could try home depot" was actually very convincing. The other girl phoned in her scene. She was also apologetic with the woman until the woman became mean to her; then she became TARA The coolest bitch ever.
If you look at the two scenes with the different actresses it's hugely different in their performances. Rutina IS Tara. Just the way she is sitting... she is great!

i just watched this same scene acted out by the first actress (btw, way more hotter!) considered to play Tara, and she was WAY better than this tryhard. Rutina Wesley's version in comparison is so overacted and just plain stupid, like her accent (and her face). Even the fat chick acted better in the other version! And the way she shouted out 'WAYLAN!' was just plain freakin embarrasing. A little part of me died inside once I realised who 'could' have played the role of Tara. *Sigh*

The first actress wasn't right for the part. She was pretty and Rutina is gorgeous but the first one just didn't seem right. If you have a chance look it up here on Youtube. The first actress did exactly the same scene as shown in this video, just not as good.
While Tara is awesome, I still feel a little bad for that woman. It's not her fault for having a pretty bland fashion sense. Rutina Wesley's version in comparison is so overacted and just plain stupid, like her accent (and her face). Even the fat chick acted better in the other version! And the way she shouted out 'WAYLAN!' was just plain freakin embarrasing. A little part of me died inside once I realised who 'could' have played the role of Tara. *Sigh*

@dogbokka In my opinion, this Tara is the Tara Trueblood needs. The girl with the drunk mother that jumps from relationship to relationship and job to job and has gotten tired of everything. It's not overacted, it's just plain bitchy, like Tara should be in the beginning. I love how you can hear and see the anger build inside of this Tara.
But hey! If every thought the same, everything would be boring.

Why is everyone mad about Tara not being like this anymore. She was kidnapped, tied up, pretty much raped, almost killed multiple times.

The first actress wasn't right for the part. She was pretty and Rutina is gorgeous but the first one just didn't seem right. If you have a chance look it up here on Youtube. The first actress did exactly the same scene as shown in this video, just not as good.

While Tara is awesome, I still feel a little bad for that woman. It's not her fault for having a pretty bland fashion sense. She is very presumptuous and desperate, but she didn't deserve to be told off over her silly clothing. It's obvious Tara is way more intelligent then her boss and the lady, so I guess they had it coming to them. I'm compassionate...what can I say? lol
