What is the Gospel? I thought it was the second Person in the Trinity taking on human nature, and defeating death on the cross? If these guys are correct, then the Incarnation was impossible, and the cross was impossible, since the Son took on human nature...tell me, how is that possible if Total Depravity is true. Did Jesus have a human will in bondage? If you say no, which any Calvinist will (no pun), then Jesus was not consubstantial with us, and didn't free us from anything.
I dont know why, but I think it would be so funny if during the middle of this interview you saw that door open in the back left and you saw john piper peek in then close the door back.
2. @lsjtifo Must be put down how? By becoming a socialist country? You sound like a Totalitarinist. You also sound very zealous your self.. so I don't know where you get at calling out others about their beliefs.
Man is not all powerful, he can't even master his own destiny, say on lines he himself prefers. So u feel confident to infer there is (or must be) a supreme intelligence. But point is we are ourselves part of that cosmic entity or universal consciousness. Whether u call it Christ or his father, or Allah, Bodhisattva, or Krishna, makes no difference. ..
right after mike bursts out laughing at rc saying he's a mushroom, the video is cut and we see mke wiping away a tear from his eye before proceeding with the interview. i suspect the laughter was much more intense and took a few moments to subside!! rc's answer was really funny and clearly caught mike off guard. any way to view those "lost minutes" of possible laughter, if it were the case? :D
I don't think anyone in our government understands that our country's problems are going to get worse if they continue down the path of liberalism. These liberal ideologies are destroying this country. Keeping God seperate is the worst mistake anyone can make. I hope people realise this soon enough before our rebellion against God makes this country reprobate.
The greatest threat to the United states is not liiberalism rather is evangelicism anti-intellectualism that just presumes the most insane theology (i.e. dispensationalism) with out even doing the exegesis of the texts.
These guys need to be subjected to continuous audit by the public. Scriptures were / are currently and will be a fraud. God needs no names and books for people who understand God. People just make them up for power in the past, now and the future. That is just simple as that. Apologetic their asses, evangelism is just a language game, self made Jewish.
And ministers of the gospel. Regardless of the smokescreens of the Obama campaign we are to preach "out of season" the gospel. This season many are more political than Biblical. Many went to hell during the Civil Rights Era. We are to proclaim Jesus regardless of our political environment. What happened to the song "I'd rather have Jesus, more than anything"? I guess that has gone under the bus for a political candidate!
I can't believe that Catholics and the Evangelicals seem to be sitting out this election ... just don't seem to care that Obama, who enthusiastically votes for the most BRUTAL kinds of late-term abortion, may get into the Oval Office.
Have Christians just walked away from their values? Does no one think this is important?
Yet the Black churches, and the Nation of Islam, are screaming from their pulpits that Obama is the Messiah -- literally, using those words!
Christ centered preaching as far as I understand it to be is preaching that is centered on the person and majesty of God/Christ which is God exalting and brings the congregation into the intellectual engagement of understanding God. God must be worshipped in Spirit (born again) and Truth (correct doctrine). Christ centered preaching leaves God to do the converting/transforming of the soul instead of novel ideas that actually work against God's purpose in preaching which is why the Church needs
Christianity has been falling away ever since the Catholic church changed the true sabbath day to sunday. It is unlawful yet most do not observe the true sabbath. It's a shame that people serve man instead of God. Saturday is the sabbath. God said if you love me you will keep my comandments! The power of the church has changed God's law without authority to do so.
I do believe that was clarified in the bible to not dwell on things such as what day is the sabbath. We are to keep A day. ONE day of the week Holy. We are to reserve a day of rest, worship and meditation on God, his Word and His will. We are to abstain from distractions and focus entirely on His glory. You are correct, Saturday is the Sabbath. But, so what? That is the calendar that was set up in that manner. What if they chose to move our calendar up two days. Then what? It's rather relative.
We are to do as our Creator says. If a life is in need of saving on a Sunday or Saturday, do you not save it for it would require work? Of course not. You save the life. It's not the Day that matters, it's the Act. The act of keeping time for communion with God. Getting wrapped up in methods and rituals will detract from what Christ did for us. He gave us our communion with our Creator back. Remember that. It's the act of keeping holy time for God that matters.
Saturday is NOT the Sabbath day. The seventh-day Sabbath was instituted by God as a SIGN in the Old Testament, a sign that showed that Christ had to do all the work in saving someone. Exodus 31:13: Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Just as the blood sacrifices and burnt offerings were signs pointing to Christ, so...
...too the Saturday Sabbath was a sign. Do you still offer burnt offerings? Why not? Because they were fulfilled in Christ. The Seventh-Day Sabbath was simply a sign, just as circumcision was a sign.
Matthew 28:1 was translated incorrectly. Instead of saying "In the end of the sabbath," it should say, "In the end of the sabbaths," or the end of the era of the Seventh-Day Sabbaths.
terminat1, I do agree with many things you said, my point is that many folk have unwittingly made the church itself an idol unto the lord by obeying the law of man instead of God. You have done right in doing your homework and reading your bible, however, many people do not do that, instead they go on whatever the church says is true. The holy spirit will tell you what is right for you and where you are in your walk. I'm glad you did not judge but used scripture. I like to observe Sat. sabbath.
I love Sproul. As someone who holds to the classical arminianist point of view, I do cringe at his comments about arminians, but he's dead on on everything else.
Sir, you said that "They even messed up the date of his birth." Can you provide any primary source material to substantiate your claim? This is now the fourth time I've asked you to back up what you say; this is also your last chance.
Well, you said that in your first comment regarding "the story of Jesus in the first place", but then you went further to say with certainty that "The historical Jesus is NOT "well documented" They even messed up the date of his birth." Obviously since you know they messed up, you must know where. If you recant that, that's one thing, but if you persist in your condoning your faulty argumentation after you've already abandoned it in practice then I think it's obvious who's really being childish.
Btw, are you going to stick with your statement that "The historical Jesus is NOT "well documented" They even messed up the date of his birth." If not, declare explicitly that you recant it. If not, then please provide the primary source material that I've asked for three times now yet you've still not provided. :)
There are numerous primary source not biblical showing a historical Jesus. He is one of the most document people to ever live. Even my secular humanist professors where I studied history believe in a historical Jesus. This is why the Jesus Seminar was invented. Since he was real they needed to make him out to be a mystic. All we know for a fact is that he was NOT born Dec 25 other then that it is all a guess.
"please read my comment again; (i say; they messed it up); this means i do not claim to know what the right date is."
So you won't provide any primary source material? How do you know its the wrong date if you don't have the right one? All you basically have now is "I don't believe x has the right date for Jesus's birth, and I agree with others who have basically the same argument." It's hardly compelling to say the least.
"The historical Jesus is NOT "well documented" They even messed up the date of his birth."
So you hold that Jesus wasn't well documented, but you also hold that the details of his birth are so exact and precise that you know the right day of his birth as opposed to the wrong one? I fail to see your consistency here. Also, if you have that date, can you back it up with primary source material?

@Castleman711 " Did Jesus have a human will in bondage?"
Jesus was not born of Adam's seed...but of God's. Thus the will of Jesus was set in perfect obedience to that of the father's will.
You and I share Adam's seed....so it is our will that is in bondage.

Obama has nothing to do with the Gospel. Keep politics out of God's house.
One leader over america or the other.. all are subject to Him Who sits in heaven and does what so ever he pleases.
