  • Thank you, thank you, thank you so much !

I love this version of this song ! Thank you !

  • great song!

  • she sounds a bit like Mandy Moore

  • wow, she's very good but i still like Lea's rendition. Sorry, just my own comment. Greets from Belgium.

  • Hhhhaaaattteee how good she is at this it's soooooo unfair :( .....sigh..... love it.

  • She is an amazing singer!!

  • her voice is amazing!

  • gr8 song it nearly makes me cry lol

  • One of my classmates sang this song for this talent show at my school so I searched this song up. It's not bad. It's kinda nice.

  • did she sing it this well?

  • Hell yeah, she sang it really well, not as good but still.

  • Love her voice

  • i love this! i love her vioce

dont like some of the rhythm tho...

  • She's not bad actually. I have to say that I still like Lea Salonga the best... and Kaho Shimada is impressive too. But Devon isn't bad.

  • This is definitely the best music video for this song!

  • omg what a voice

  • awsome i was looking for this yay

im singing this song for our choir class lol

were doin musicals so i choose this

  • The interpretation makes me cry; the voice feels so much with the lyrics..!

  • I have this version of On My Own, but no idea who sings it! it's not Lea Salonga or Devon Frieder... any help??

  • Could it be Frances Rufelle? she's the original

  • it actually is devon frieder

  • Good God, this is the voice that I fell in love with the role of Eponine. What a magnetic and soulful sound. Lea Salogna does great job, but I just can't over the initial imprint set by Devon.

  • I apologize but I realized that this comment is meant for Frances Ruffelle.

  • WOW! - I'm an Eponine fanatic. She meets all the criteria: Cute, Angelic-waif looking, and has a smooth soft voice (when she's not belting it out). She's no Frances Ruffelle but she's skillz.

  • Does anyone kno if this musical is on DVD?? I really want to see it, but I can't find a place close to where I live.

    <3 Haamonii

  • yes it is i think I had it on DVD b4 but I never watched it so I dont know if its the musical

  • I have the 10th Anniversary concert on DVD. I love it!

  • Who ever this is your voice is beautiful.

Haha,I love this musical. I just did it last spring. I even played Eponine.

    <3

  • I think it's beautifully sung, especially at the beginning- it's really romantic.

The only bit I don't like is the shouting at the end.

  • I love this song the lyrics are awsome

  • I've discovered that I really don't like this song sung in an American accent.

  • why? its beautiful.

  • really? because that's just how i personally like it. accents are just a bit harsh/foreign to my ears.

  • i can't help comparing it to Lea Salonga's version, though it sounds good. It's just that i can't get over with Lea's performance, it's magnificently superb.

  • i have to sing this song in a recital and i think i shouldn't belt it out should i? hmm

  • I'm playing Epipone in the play and I am wondering if she ever gets the guy?

  • No she doesn't. Make it full of loss. That's what she is. A personal loss amongst the national loss. For the love of god though, don't belt it out like this version. She's a broken flower who never get's to boom.

  • This song is full of hope, as Epinone is. Do not be so ready to count out the broken flower--I point you: The Steadfast tin soldier.

  • I like it very much!!!!

  • When I was in high school, I loved Les Miserables, and could relate especially to Eponine. This was my favorite song. More than any other, it reminded me of a boy I had a crush on, but didn't return my interest.

  • Beautifully sung. Thanks for posting.

  • Ah, I love Les Mis, and have since I saw it 4 years ago. (when I was too young to understand most of it) This is one of my favorite songs.

  • Oh! I've seen the musical with her singing. Beautiful voice. And I love that song pretty much.

  • although your voice seems to crack on high notes, your still ok.better than ms ruffelle in fact. i'll rank you 2nd to ms salonga on this!

  • shes so pretty, and a really good voice, i never saw the musical, but i saw the movie and was wonderin how did they make this into a musical?

  • um, it was a musical long before it was a movie (at least, the modern one with Liam Neeson, which incidentally left out some of the key characters - *cough EPONINE cough* and greatly diminished others, like Gavroche, and Enjolras. It has a HOT Marius though. =])

and the novel was written in the 19th century by Victor Hugo.

  • This song is so beautiful...nearly every time I hear it, it wrenches my heart XD

  • beautiful song! beautiful voice!

  • 1 sentence i knew it she is one of the best performance. I get chill by her voice

  • Gosh, this singer has an amazing voice!

She sounded a bit sharp at times, but for the most part she was really good!

  • I agree =]

  • lea salonga is the best singer of this song .the emotion is superb and natural and not to mention the clear and great voice she had.

  • i think that it's between lea salonga and Frances Ruffle (original london cast)

  • I love this song!!! It's my favorite in Les Mis!!! and i can totally relate to it...

  • i used too...

  • i can totall relate to this song =[

  • hey same here...i guess i live in my head a lot.

  • beautiful song

  • This is the most powerful show i have ever seen or done!!!

  • were you in it then

  • Yes i was in it at my High School!!!!

  • What role did you have?

  • i played Brujon one of the Tenardier gang members of coarse the other gang members could not act or sing so i got all the lines and solos and they stood there so i guess i was the whole gang!?!?!?!

  • who where you

  • I dunno. I think it'd be easiest to use a microphone, though the quality'd kinda suck if you did that. I don't really know of any other ways to go about this, gomennasai. T_T

  • It's so cool!

  • youre good :)

a bit t much vibrato for me :/

  • reneex15....America is so NOT the fricken majority on here!! And just cause youre so ignorant doesnt mean others have to make their comments convenient for you to understand. Out here, you call it high school, in Europe and many other countries, its called college. Look it up alright! The world is bigger then America.

  • i also agree that this is probably best version of this song on yt. thx for posting.

  • I love this song!! After watching the musical in London i got this song stuck in my head for months!!Lol!

    :)

  • I really love les mis. and this is on of my favs.=)

  • wow very nice!!!! beautiful voice!!!!! :D

  • this is the best version of the song as far as im concerned.

i sang this for my music exam when i was 15 and its an excellent song for displaying vocal range (halogrl5 im sure you will will your competition if you sing this song)

    x

  • this is an awesome version of the song im singing this for a competion so i need to listen to it lots

  • I love this song! And I LOVE to sing it I get so into it when I sing it that I usually cry right in the middle of the song, the emotion is so strong, you feel like you're going through the pain that she is

  • she had an amazing voice, even better than the original.

  • hey does anyone no wut Ebinine sings when she's younger??? (the kid Ebinine) I am trying out for this fabulous musical and need to know... plz respond

  • it's eponine. and she doesn't sing anything when she's younger...but Cosette sing "Castle on a Cloud" when she was younger.

  • its spelled eponine just to tell ya.. i'm doing the play. my best friend saw it on broadway...oh and i have no clue what she sings!!!!!

  • this is a tough song to sing and you nailed it!!

  • Well if its so easy, then put up a vid of u singin it if ur so good

  • Well if you're so clever, why don't use proper spelling?

  • whoa..its so not..les mis is a complicated musical anyway and all the music is very challenging...i go to a school for the arts and we're putting this on as a musical this year..my director doesnt pick easy stuff..but no matter how challenging it is...we'll nail it!

  • Can I just say, I'm not trying to be nasty.

I go to an ordinary Catholic secondary school, no special 'Arts' or anything. In fact, we're a Sports College.

We did Les Miserables last year. This year we did Sweeney Todd (the full Broadway version). Both times, we made it onto TV.

  • mmhmm so your saying that your school did it..but... couldnt have done it if it wasnt complicated cause you're not even and 'arts' school lol...thats funny...and by the way we're a high school and we're putting it on...

  • What have you got against me? All I said was this song wasn't as hard to sing as everyone makes out. I have nothing against this person who's singing this, in fact I think she's amazing.

Why, all of a sudden, have you ganged up on me?

  • I agree that this song isn't as hard as everyone makes it to be. It's a wonderful song, and wonderful songs don't have to be the most complex songs ever written. Wow people are being so defensive these days, just chill out and remember that it's JUST AN OPINION!!!!

  • you did it in college... and you said it was a 6th grade song?

  • College in England isn't the same as College in America.

We are called a college, (our name is St. Mary's College), but our pupils are 11-18. I did it when I was 14.

when I say 6th grade, I don't mean 6th grade as in school grades. I mean singing grades: in England there are singing exams of different grades (1 being the easiest, and 8 being the hardest, and after that is diploma).

  • oh well the majority of us are from AMERICA, and it would be a lot more convenient for us to know and not have you explain the whole college system in ENGLAND. so uhmm dont call it 6th grade when it really isnt. thanks.

  • I didn't say 6th grade, fucktard, I said grade 6. Why should I have to change everything I say just because you're ignorant?

  • Lovely voice! I can't really say this is a perfect song for you... but even though you have a beautful sound to your voice!

  • pretty voice. i'm doing this song 4 voice lessons, i'm not nearly as good

  • OMG! i love your voice!

  • her voice sounds ok to me. it's performance worthy. You can't be accepted in the audition if you can't pass the standards of Cameron Mackintosh!

  • How can you call her a "karaoke-ists". Have you seen any of her other videos I think you need to shut up because nobody who has listend to any of her other videos will listen to you. This is also quite a long time ago!!

  • I thought you were a professional until I read the comments O_O

  • Wait, shes not? Holy crap!

  • u can hear it in the phrasing. she breathes in the middle of a sentence, which is a SIN in musical theatre. u break the thought. plus her vibrato is very unsteady and nervous. still, a beautiful voice.

  • yeah, I thought she was professional til I heard the breathing patterns lol my music teacher would make me start again every time I did it. Soon learned lol Great song though, powerful voice.

  • One word........

    Wonderful.

  • i can hear your emotion :)

  • Ya. I like that about you. You truly are feeling the pain and aloneness (that is so not a word) that Eponine felt in this scene.

  • i really liked your 3 "i love him"'s. Les Miserables is the gretest musical ever, HANDS DOWN! it's good because IT'S ABOUT LIFE. i mean, i could totally picture all of these things going on in the early 1800's.

such an amazing musical. i love it!

  • well, the reason is so real is because it's based on the book by victor hugo, which was very true to life, that's how they wrote back then, they based the stories on what they knew

  • I would pay to hear you do that in re4al life, just a tiny tiny bit more practise and it's slightly tinny in places, but of course the accoustics wher you recorded this could have been to crap for all I know.

  • Just out of curiosity, what vocal range are you? I'm just curious because Eponine is usually an Alto and for your videos you sound somewhat like a soprano/mezzo-soprano (forgive me if this is entirely wrong!)

  • Haha yeah, I'm more of a soprano...but this is my dream part!

  • Ha, same here! But I just cannot get down that low, so I want to play Cosette instead (actually I just want to be in Les Mis!)

I was just asking because I'm looking for songs to learn and I'm mostly soprano.

    Thanks for replying.

  • you sound like a country singer

  • apart from some little notes

    it was lovely!!

i think you could be on stage as eponine

you have a really strong great voice :D

  • Nice job. A variation from the well-applauded versions of Lea Salonga and Zoe Hart.

  • your voice cracks a bit and you go sharp when you get excited and lose control of the song, but definitely a good job nevertheless, and better than anything i could do at any rate :)

  • i liked it!

  • You did REALLY well. Great job on this song. You did get pitchy but it was only a big deal on 3 notes. Yes, I counted. 3. "When the night IS over." "Everyday IM learning." Those two spots were pretty sharp. "I have never KNOWN" is the 3rd spot. I think you actually hit the note well in tune, but you were super close to your recording device so it sounded like screaming. If you backed off the mic a little bit, that would have been an amazinggggg moment in the piece..

  • meh

  • are some of the pics of lea salonga?

  • Yes.

  • that was great....i love the pics...is debbie gibson in that group of eponines?

  • The voice is not bad, not bad at all. Just keep singing and you'll become even more amazing in no time. :D

  • beautiful voice!!

  • That is so well done, with all the emotion and everything. You are great!

  • wow

  • you are incredible!!!
