I bought the LC52D62U series and it works like a charm, I only use it for gaming and it is pretty crazy, I bought it for $1100 and it was more than worth it, no bandings yet...LoL
What input source type are you using? If comp video this can be explained by poor cables and/or source impedances. If via a digital connection (like HDMI/DVI) then it is more likely in the set, but can also be in the source - which is why some may have problems with banding and others don't.
from everything I've seen and heard (my cousin bought a 52") the banding can just be temporary and completely disappear after only a few months... has it with your tv or did you get it replaced?
Parents got the 52" 82u, no banding at all. Its one of the best LCD's i've seen really, amazing black level. the only problem is some bright blues are over saturated but isnt really a big deal. only notice it when i watched the Memphis Tigers football team play in the bowl game
This happened to me as well, only with the newer 64 series. Sharp claimed that I had a defective panel and replaced it. The backlight was far better, but clouded. Too bad the new one showed the "banding" artifacts as well. Still waiting for a suitable replacement :(
Thanks for the video. I avoided the 92U for this exact reason. Hopefully the 64U will have this fixed or controlled. Your banding is very noticeable, although not as bad as the master and commander video floating around here.
I did. I actually got the 52" XBR2 and it is electornic perfection. Even the 3 display models I found of the Sharp 52" all showed this issue....Hope the fix it in the next generation.
Mhm, had mine for 4yrs, never had this issue. Mine works perfectly.

I have a horizontal artifact visible on an LC52SE94U about half way up the screen.

I returned 2 Aquos 42D64U TVs. Both had banding. Have a Bravia 40W3000 which is much better and more natural color.
