I'm guessing by "fake grip" you mean grip safety...They're not worthless, and anyway, a thumb safety ("actual safety"?) is one more thing to have to take off before you pull the trigger to shoot an attacker.
What lever are you talking of too? You mean a hammer? This gun is stryker-fired. If you want a double/single action pistol, get an M9. If you want a single action, get a 1911.
@xiaogoudelaohu 1911 to heavy not enough rounds, m9 is a pussy ass 9 mm. I want an XD with a thumb safety. I have a XD 45. tac which is beautiful but I like to actually see the hammer and I like to have a real safety that I flip on and off.
I'm trying to think of a high capacity .45 that has an external hammer...maybe an HK USP?
Personally I like the simplicity of the XD. I've shot an XD40 a bunch of times and an M96 (40 cal version of M9). I like to take off the safety and cock back the hammer on the M96 at the range, but I think for actual defense the XD is just easier...might have just been me, but I was more accurate with the XD as well.
@xiaogoudelaohu USP is so expensive. I love 1911's but Most of them are just to much money, the G.I.'s are kinda cheap around 550 here. I wish the prices would go back to what they used to be.
@MaoludOmari - Actually, it has two, but I still agree that you'd have to be fairly stupid to shoot yourself with it. I've got one and love it. The best pistol I've shot or owned yet!
@domitrias actually it has three, trigger safety, grip safety, and the striker safety located under the slide, granted most do not consider it a safety but springfield calls it that and it functions as a safety so being a gunsmith i have to go with it being a safety lol, i have pulled a ton of these apart to replace broken firing pin for those who dont seem to realize snap caps exist.
The grip safety is too much and would seem to be less reliable if you needed it frantically in a hurry. I don't care for glocks at all. My pistol choice is ruger. My only complaint about the XD's is the grip safety. That goes a little overboard with the issue of safety. Its a weapon, meant to kill if nessasary for god sakes.
I bought an SA XD Service .45 ACP on the 2nd of this month, haven't had a chance to fire it yet. I did field strip it, however, and put a little oil on it. I was very happy at how easy it is to field strip it, as some pistols are a total pain in the butt in that regard.
One thing I don't like is at the bottom of the grip, there's a half-moon opening with a big cavity running way up inside the back grip. It really looks weird and makes the gun look cheap. They should fix it right away.
I own 3 Springfield's... an xd-40, xd-45 and the XDM9mm. I used to think all the safety features made it an extra safe, for wussie women gun, (and I am a woman)but the main safety is triggered as soon as you grip the gun! So hello, "hold on and there is no safety. Shouldn't we all be holding on to our guns? The next comes when you go to fire it (trigger safety) so I say there is only "safety" when you don't want to actually fire it.... otherwise, you are good to go!
Sorry, but I don't buy weapons because of hype. The XD is far superior, and MUCH cheaper. That is a formula I'll stick to. Why are so many departments trading in their SIGs for XDs?
While I do not have the XDm, just an XD9. I liked how it felt in my hand as compared to a Glock. I shot both before I made my purchase. With the Glock I was less accurate in my shots, I was later told the grip angle is different and you have to hold it different. The XD I just picked it up and fired, The shots hit more or less where I expected them to. I also liked the idea of the Grip Safety.
enjoy the "look". i will enjoy shooting +p+ ammo, which glock can not fire. of course you have no idea wtf i'm talking about cause you just like the looks.
I think you need to get your facts correct before you start telling people that they don't know what their talking about. I've had no problems with +p+ in my Glock 19.
my facts come from Mr. Gaston Glock himself. next time you field strip your pistol notice that your barrel has a chamber that is not fully supported. this is due to the half moon shaped cut in the bottom of your breach. this is done because in the old days cheap military ammo cases would sometimes over expand and get stuck if the pistol was dry or dirty. it's why serious competitors always replace glock barrels for aftermarket. and why glock will cancel your warranty for shooting reloads.
I don't believe you're were talking about reloads in your first post. I know about Glocks and reloads and I don't shoot them with the factory barrel. It says nothing in the manual about +p or +p+ which my Glock has had 0 problems using.
Why don't you stick to your overcomplicated, over priced, over hyped croatian wonder pistol and I'll stick to shooting +p and +p+ out of my Glock without issue.
More parts = more to go wrong and last time I checked the "xd" has a lot of parts compared to a Glock. Seems Springfield's marketing has done it's job at building up a $200 pistol into something that isn't even second rate to the other polymer offerings out there. And I'm not just talking about Glocks.
you can sit behind your keyboard and run your mouth about how glock only has 32 moving parts, but the truth is that the springfield goes bang everytime, just like glock, accept the springfield is higher quality.
It's not a split trigger, it's called a trigger safety. It's like a button on the trigger that prevents the gun from firing unless that trigger safety is depressed. So basically it won't fire unless you're pulling the trigger completely. The XD has 3 safeties, grip safety, trigger safety, and the firing pin block safety. They're all built in to prevent the gun from firing unless the whole hand is around the gun and the finger pulls the trigger.
The trigger isn't really split. like dannyman 1024 said, it's a safety. it works with the other safety in the back of the grip to ensure that it doesn't fire unless you want it to.
it is a safety-the the trigger wont fire-the trigger wont engage unless pressing all three triggers ergo safer pistol....glock has no safety whatsoever
Gun is made in Croatia and its called the HS2000. Springfield Armory just bought the rights and rebadged them to be sold here in the US market as the XD and XD-M.
If you chamber the first round by racking the slide on a loaded magazine, and then pull the trigger, like any other semi-automatic pistol, YES, it does!!!!!!
Why didn't the slide lock back on the last round?
JK nice animation.

Wow it really is single action like. I knew there was a reason the trigger on the XD just feels right to me.

I want an XD with a lever in the back and a actuall saftey on it now a fake grip or trigger safety because those re worthless.

Have a look on the SA site, you can get the XD and XDm with an optional traditional safety.
Not my sort of thing mind.

an xd? over hyped? you're clearly mistaken. GLOCK THIS, GLOCK THAT GLOCK IS ALL HYPE. Glocks go bang thats all. XDm is quality;
better accuracy, better trigger, holds more ammo, and is just safer, regardless of user experience.
Only an idiot would doubt the reliability of an XD.
Where you bought by Glock? because it sure seems like it.
