As Penpusher mentioned on another clip: Just for accuracy, Samantha Eggar's vocals in this film were covered by the fantastic Diana Lee, who you can also hear doubling the vocals for Charlie's mom in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" on the song "Cheer Up, Charlie" and in the Burt Bacharach soundtrack of "Lost Horizon" dubbing Liv Ullman on "The World Is a Circle." Just thought you should know!
I so love this film and sing along to all the songs. I enjoy turning my voice students on to the soundtrack. I have an old folio of most of the music and it's pretty ragged after all these years!
Compare this to the rather similar scene in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Lovely Lonely Man, which features Sally Ann Howes on her similarly POSH estate and muses in song about her situation, though her conclusion is a definitive one, compared to the unsure one Emma comes to here. And in an earlier, scene Howes gets in a mess with her car running into a pond, allowing her to get mad as Eggar does at the start here.
@savordagirl22 I agree. I remember watching this film with my grandparents and she got on all our nerves! She did not completely ruin the film for me, but it would have been better without her. I believe she does not appear in the books.
Actually 20th century fox took a big risk on this movie and it didn't pay off unfortunately. I love the movie so much though~ What an incredible score! Ty for the post:)
those style of movies are only a memory now , it is too bad that the movie industry does not make those kinds of movies. all what one sees today is black people movies and white trash movies.
Samantha Eggar is pretty and does not have a bad voice, but Emma was a pointless character- as several professional reviewers have said.

Gorgeous cinematography from the great ROBERT SURTEES. 2:30 The music, wonderful. This film has always had a nice civilized warm feeling to it.

Samantha Eggar...what a babe, and she could sing, too. I got a crush on her after seeing her play a victim in "The Collector", another good role.

Movies of today have no class , just garbidge

@MrAdel007 Please define garbidge. Because if you mean "garbage", you might be as classless as the movie industry. Education is a big part of class.
