I don't waste my time when I rake up my grass clippings. I just rake them up, put them in one of our extra trash cans and haul them out back behind our house to our electric fence where our cows are. It's a little time consuming, but it makes your yard not have dead spots, and it's like ice cream to cows. If you press the clippings down after putting them in the trash cans, you can save time because your making more space for more clippings. Plus, this way, they come out like mini hay bales! =)

Of course saving water and energy (electricity, oil etc.) and so on is always a point either!
But it's often the hidden things causing much more problems...
So a conscious behaviour is most important after all!
... is bad for the animals (cruel keeping of animals), bad for nature (destruction of forests for space), bad for humans (grain is given for animals (concentrated feed) instead of humans. one could give breads to all people on earth if there wasn't most grain needed for the production of meat!), bad for the climate (methane (also coming from cattle) is a gas much more damaging the climate than carbon dioxid - mass animal farming shall be worse for the climate than the world's traffic!)..
- Take a look at the distance a product needs to travel to reach your home (don't buy water from founts far away, prefer regional brands / don't buy vegetables / fruits in seasons where they do not grow in your area, e.g. strawberries in winter ... and so on)
- Eat less meat. At least try to enjoy meat then, try some of higher quality - not waste materials hidden in a burger... Too much meat isn't healthy for yourself and especially intensive mass animal farming... --> next comment.

You have pretty hair. I am very wasteful. I leave all of my lights, tv, radio, and computer on 24 hours a day. I leave the water running while shaving, brushing my teeth, and washing dishes. I stay in the shower until all of the hot water is gone. What makes this even better is that my electricity bill is included in my rent so I don't have to worry about high bills.
I'm so fucking tired of all these green people driving slow in their hybrids thinking highly of themselves cause they recycle and shit they just need something to feel proud of assholes

Regardless of what's in the video, I think that going green is a cause worth thinking about....it may not seem that important now, but as people become more educated on the chemicals that are in the products they're using and how these products are effecting the lakes, steams, ozone & air, not to mention our health and the future. low energy bulbs will not help save the planet! they contain mercury. the light is dim aiding depression. there is a warning tat if one breaks you must evac the room for 15 minutes and not inhale the dust.

There are making some improvements by reducing the mercury. LED lights are greener but the light quality is not as good, but hopefully that changes soon. If not already, anyone know of a good one???

About the light bulbs...the "coils" bulbs- they're not as bright, and they start making this annoying high pitched whine when they get old, so I really don't like them. Plus they're ugly in anything where they're visible. Plus they're made with mercury- so if you break one be careful, I kid you not. Mercury can be deadly to breath in.
So yeah...fluorescent light bulbs kind of suck, no offense.

I remember back before we went Green! We saved milk & soda bottles, aluminum cans & tv dinner trays and sold them so we could have money to go to movie theater matinee. I don't waste my time when I rake up my grass clippings. I just rake them up, put them in one of our extra trash cans and haul them out back behind our house to our electric fence where our cows are. It's a little time consuming, but it makes your yard not have dead spots, and it's like ice cream to cows. If you press the clippings down after putting them in the trash cans, you can save time because your making more space for more clippings. Plus, this way, they come out like mini hay bales! =)

If you are referring to ionizing radiation, that does not really exist at all in a CFL.
If you are referring to the UV, it's an extremely small, negligible amount, The amount for several hours is like the same as a few minutes outside.

Compact fluorescents use less electricity, but you can't dim most of them. I love being able to dim the lights in many parts of my home.

You're a dumb ass! Unplugging devices from your wall when nothing is plugged into them to use that power is a myth that people like you believe. How can a wall wart that is suppose to charge your cell phone or ipod use power when nothing is plugged into it? It can't!! Nothing is causing it to use current. You want to save something, save your back the trouble of bending over to unplug the thing. Do something useful and check out how much money Al Gore is making off of idiots like you.

You could state that going green is viewing the earth in the eyes of the short lifespan of a human.The earth is around for around 6 billion years so what does 100 years represent?We are only around for 6 million years but we as humans think we are very important.We think we can destroy the earth.Everything humans use as resources and transform will eventually return to it's original natural state.We are only passing by on this earth and one day we will be gone.

@yesireallyam - what people DON'T UNDERSTAND is that we're living in a finite world, with finite resources, which we consume in an exponential way. to sustain almost 7 billion people TODAY 1.5 earths would be needed. just think a bit, count and draw some logical and rational conclusions. in 30 years there will be 9 billion people. recycling is the only solution, or colonizing a couple of planets/meteors... (maybe in a few hundred years). almost no difference for YOU, but HUUGE for your children

You can complain about the money, but does that mean that you all are spending every penny on what is making you happier in the future? the only thing i agree with is the lighbulbs, cuz you save money with it, but reducing your quality of life to try to stop something which is completely out of mankind's reach? its pointless... if this was true, we would have gone green a long time ago, and wouldn't have to see all these smug celebrities embracing it over the last three years.

Regardless of what's in the video, I think that going green is a cause worth thinking about....it may not seem that important now, but as people become more educated on the chemicals that are in the products they're using and how these products are effecting the lakes, steams, ozone & air, not to mention our health and the future. I am trying to eliminate all the non green products from my home now...

low energy bulbs will not help save the planet! they contain mercury. the light is dim aiding depression. there is a warning tat if one breaks you must evac the room for 15 minutes and not inhale the dust.
as usual the cause of most of mans problems are there solutions

There are making some improvements by reducing the mercury. LED lights are greener but the light quality is not as good, but hopefully that changes soon. If not already, anyone know of a good one???

About the light bulbs...the "coils" bulbs- they're not as bright, and they start making this annoying high pitched whine when they get old, so I really don't like them. Plus they're ugly in anything where they're visible. Plus they're made with mercury- so if you break one be careful, I kid you not. Mercury can be deadly to breath in.
So yeah...fluorescent light bulbs kind of suck, no offense.
