Yeah man, I have my license plate between my passenger pegs above the rear tire. I got pulled over (for speeding) and he also got my for not having a 1 1/4 inch reflector and not license plate light. BUUTTT from what I see, the lights cast a shadow on the numbers and plus aren't license plates reflective?? Aren't they clearly reflective when bright lights are on em? Hella dumb. Robbing me. Fuckers.
I rode a motocycle in south florida for 7yrs. Within that time.I must have gotten over 100 tickets. No mirrors, turn signals, reflectors etc.crap! Hell there was a time i just rode at night.and stayed away from the beach.on bike nights.I would park it away from the pack.Cops walk around giving tickets!assholes!
Waaa......just like everyone else....doing their J-O-B. If you have your sh*t together, then no worries, you're not breaking the law. Driving is not a right, it's a privilege (2 or 4 wheels). And to write that all cops are jerks is like saying are riders are jerks too. Ignorance breeds contempt. People need to stop b*tching about everyone else and look in the mirror...start with controlling your actions. If you have a legitimate complaint then do something through the appropriate channels.
I got pulled over by a couple of these douche bags cause my muffler was too loud. But there were a few Civics driving around with louder mufflers than mine when they were giving the warning and hounding me about drugs. To the person who posted profiling, I fully agree. I was lucky I was out of state though.
Cops are dicks in any state.Dont believe the bullshit "They are just doing there jobs"...I work from time to time with them and they all suck..I drive a fast bike so im not bothered with them much....
Don't even get me started on CHiPies... I was soo mad this one time I have my camera setup rolling... and got behind a CHP bike cop on 405 Fwy NB near Long Beach... and I shit you not... he pulled out a flip-type cell-phone.. called someone.... and shoved the ear-piece up under his helmet to his ear!! When I made it to work I was extremely upset because the video file had gotten corrupted. I wanted to bust him SOOO BAD~!!! Anyhoo be safe.
Can we do anything legally/politically/socially to get rid of the CHP. They are not improving public safety at all. Hell, I bet if we put the same money into local sheriffs depts. we would see much more in the way of benefits.
ahh good ol' CHP doing their job... I don't see the problem here. Looks like they need more enforcement up there for the jackasses who can't control themselves on two wheels.
This was a political stop. This is the summit of a couple of my favorite motorcycling roads and I am not alone. Hundreds of bikers cruise these beautiful curvy roads every day. Losers in cages whine to local law agencies about all the wicked two-wheelers making them feel uncomfortable and CHP uses it as an opportunity to generate some income and try to make the route seem a bit less motorcycle friendly.
@Freakorcycle I'm not sure what you are calling nonsense. My comment was intended to point out that a platoon of law officers citing every bike they can, for anything they can think of, at that location, is in reaction to political pressure that this poor chap who got ticketed had nothing to do with.
@gnrands50 where r u getting your info. from? your imagination? look, if you get a ticket you don't deserve, you contest it. simple as that. but if you got a ticket that you know you deserved, well,,,, take it like a man, just as the guy in the vid. did. because there are laws and they have to be followed. (oh, and don't bring up the subject about nanny government and how laws are just made to screw the poor and stuff like that.)
@Freakorcycle Thank you for responding. My information is based on familiarity with this location, one of my favorite riding areas. Its popularity creates a conflict between us and drivers. People complain, public pressure becomes political pressure, and CHP bends to Vox Populi. I agree, laws are necessary for civilized society. This guy was guilty of a minor equipment violation, but he would never have been stopped or cited, if it weren't for the political situation unique to this place.
Yes, we do bear some of the blame. I remember 20 years ago this stretch of HW9 was a major street racing venue made famous by a group known as the 100MPH club (a rider had to complete the 7 miles from Saratoga to the summit with an average speed of 100 mph to join) Law enforcement and hospital bills have pretty much shut down the race scene, but the stigma remains.
A police officer friend once told me that he could cite every vehicle on the road for some code infraction if he wanted to. This ticket is aimed at recreational motorcycling in general, not necessarily at this specific bike. We (motorcyclists, citizens, and everybody else) should rally against this kind of tax-payer funded highway robbery. Those of us on two wheels need to improve our perceived image also.
how many cars did they pull over? i would have a lawyer all over this one for hummm lets see,,,profiling? discrimination? im sure the list could go on and on
seriously i think these CHPs have alot more shit to worry about rather than looking for mod stops!!! what about the drug dealer that just drove by making his delivery!!!!!
that's what CHP does! issue a citation ticket to feed the corrupt officials in california! They do nothing but to suck money out from ordinary citizens.
I got pulled over here today, too. At the time, it looked like they were specifically targeting sportbikes. They pulled a half dozen over during my time there and let at least 4 cruisers breeze on through. In the meantime, there are people traveling 20+mph over the posted speed limit just a half mile up the road. Gotta love it.

No idea why they have to put reflectors on bikes. As if you can't see the fucking lights that adorn the thing, even at night!
If you can't see a motorcycle when it doesn't have it's reflectors on, even at night, you are medically blind, so it doesn't matter anyway!

Try examining the Vehicle Code for traffic infractions, the Penal Code will not assist you as much.
