You must renew your mind. Only God can save a fallen race though faith in Jesus christ. WHo was the only man who never sinned and was God who took on the sinful flesh of man. So GOD could legally substitute His death for ours. This way a sinless man paid the price of sin for us (death) but since he did not sin he could not stay dead. So he could actually lay down his life once and we, by faith, accept that gift and God no longer has to kill us for our sin. It is a legal principle.
