  • if they demolish everything around the state building, then why didn't they keep the chrysler building too?

  • Brains is better in the film

  • Poor Virgil! I love how in this episode, we see Scott's loyalty to Virgil, by flying beside him on the way back to Tracy Island, sighing with relief when Virgil landed and welcoming him back "to the living". This shows the true concerning and brotherly side of Scott (and that the duo's bondship is strong). I just love it! :D

  • why, just why would you try to move the Empire State Building???

  • Aw, I love how concerned Virgil is over Thunderbird 2.

  • all that effort for 200 yards? Might as well leave it where it is!

  • 8:04 Mr Tracy or Mr T? :P

  • brains has to fix a whole aircraft on his own? :/

  • @JackDavis16 Well I have my own personal theory that most of the repair stuff is automated. Given that fully bi-pedal robots have made a few appearances in the series. From Braman to the security guards in 30 Minuets after noon. It's likely that Tracy Island has a compliment of service Robots used for repair and maintenance of the craft and island.

  • What happened to thunderbird Two

It's right off, Churchill said we could make a claim, but Swiftcover said No to the personal injury claim :P

  • I dunno what it is, but when the trees fall down and the extinguishers on the runway sit there with the eery music playing, I find something about it really unnerving. Gerry Anderson is a genius.

  • @Deathbymoose there is something a little eerie about the extinguishers! They look a little like the Heat Ray weapons from the original War Of The Worlds movie....they also reminded me of the "Rock Snakes" from "Thunderbirds Are Go." I like the weird shots that give them a slightly sinister, snake like appearance. They certainly unnerved me as a kid. There is great imagination at work here as well as fantastic production.

  • Oh Virgil darling- complete epic fail. :) but the moving palm trees made up for it ;)

  • i used to watch this when i was a kid and it has not lost the entertainment

  • Love the scene where Gordon comes in to watch TV with Virgil. :-) Bless.

  • 2:22 Breaks my heart to see that Virgil is dieing and it's almost a comparison to Apollo 1 fire tragedy.

  • It always struck me how "emtionless" Jeff seemed to treat his sons......Not many shots of him showing affection to his boys.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this series, but they should have made Jeff a bit more loving if you ask me.....

  • @StargazerJGT OMG I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! Thank you! you are so right!

  • Im surprised those Thunderbird crafts don't have seat belts. They can save the pilot's lives :/

  • hmmmmmmm............Virgil in peril danger flying a burning Thunderbird 2 high up in the sky, with no idea the extent of the damage to the vehicle or to Virgil and you offering him coffee Kyrano..............nope still don;t see how that ever makes anyone feel better

  • They can move the Empire State building, have rockets, but Virgil's TV is tiny :(

  • @thepigclub That's what fanfiction is for dear. We add the extra little things in.

  • That shot of Virgil's face with the fire at 2:22 is brilliant. It really adds to the gravity of the situation.

  • Awww poor TB2 :*(

  • and why does brains watch TV while he have to fix T2??

  • @Firemarioflower becasue like they said, they have to wait for the parts to come in

  • @Sgtscorpious oh thanx for pointing me to that detail

  • Damn gerry anderson thinks of everything.

  • Thunderbird 2 is my favorite Bird Dam she look F**ked (sorry for swearing).

  • This was the first thing ever saw in colour and it is still awesome to me. My sons also enjoy t

    Thunderbirds.

  • "Oh, he's down."

Brilliant Scott moment; closing his eyes for a second, relief in his tone; taking a minute out to chill after guiding Virgil home. What a lovely big brother he is.

  • @TeaCub I love that moment favourite part of the show

  • Why not stabilize the Leaning Tower of Pisa?

NTBS: Where we become the news.

  • man, thunderbird 2 could take a beating and being able to get back to base, why don't we have aircraft like the thunderbirds?

  • 2.28 - most obvious strings ever

  • yeah, but it's still cute. :)

  • Lucky Thunderbird 2 crahsed in a straight line down the runway, a bit either side and it would have snapped all the firefighting poles off.

  • 5:54, New York seems a bit, well, undeveloped. Great series anyway. I've always loved this show!!

  • I guess that's why they've torn everything down around the Empire State, to develop it all up.

  • Look at the bit from 1:26 till 2:26 I used to watch that part all the time!

  • @Azaman99 It was pretty dramatic...poor Virgil :(

  • Jeff always rejects Kyrano's coffee!

  • Excellent model of the Empire State Building plus the machinery moving it. Marvellous what one can do with some corn flakes boxes, other household items and a few donor Airfix kits. Derek Meddings was a genius.

  • It's amazing to think how realistic and technically sound a lot of their ideas were. Pretty much the only thing they got wrong was the future's reliance on atomic power. I mean... a passenger plane with a 2-hour lethal radiation threshold?

  • @V1L3 It's actually close to what the press thought Concorde was, a radiation threat to the passengers by flying higher and giving a high dosage of radiation. Of couse, they got their basic knowledge and maths wrong, it turned out that you got a smaller dosage of radiation than on a regular plane, as you were simply up there for less time that conventional planes! :D The Tabloids love their half-science facts though,,,

  • @mukatuna

    RIP Meddings

  • It's still cool to watch now almost 50 years later damn!

  • "Easy does it, easy..."

    BAM.

So much for a subtle landing.

  • Yeah - shouldn't he have been firing the landing jets by that point? Or maybe they'd been knocked out of action by the navy missiles...

  • those missles must've been bloody powerful since Brains built the Thunderbirds out of Cahelium C/30 formula, which is like the make-believe STRONGEST metal of 2065.

  • yes thats true!

but that navy vessel is one of the newest of the us fleet so you would say that he also has some good weaponry

  • @Shadon1010 thunderbirds was NEVER subtle :D

  • A good landing is one that you walk away from....

  • i agrre with you it is awsome.

  • It's kind of depressing that after 12 years of work everything goes wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah @zeich87, but why move the empire state building?! They should've just put the development somewhere else. The empire state building's a important american national landmark for god's sake!

  • the bit with the empire state building was so cool second only to the crab logger and the side winder =D

  • i've seen the one with the sidewinder, but i haven't seen the crablogger!

  • @irbaileyus yeah but this is not ' Path of Destruction'

  • I used to be soooooooooooooooo scared of the crablogger when I was little. I used to think the crablogger would come smashing through my bedroom window! It's Massive!
