  • This is by far my favorite!

  • wow great song!!!

  • Hopefully the lyrics are mostly right! This is one of my favorites of Bobby's songs. He paints such a clear picture and everytime I hear this song I feel the soldiers pain. It is a shame that this actually happens; soldiers and veterans are forgotten or overlooked. They should be honored!!

  • I got some parts different, but I'm not sure, since I'm no native English speaker ;-)

    children in the trenches again

so I got taken hard by the throw ('cause I think he was rather shot = iron punch, than choked)

    flags flew full mast

Oh, I love this song!! It's one of my favourites.

  • "Livin by the past-Livin by the mile

I took the same walk down-that I did as a child

The flags flew for miles-unaware of the fate

No one saw me walk out-of my very last parade

So thoughts turn into dust-so I headed for the mount

I strayed up the path-waited for the count(went to the cemetery to see fallen soldiers)

The rain hit the steel clad gates-and filled me up with cold

This pain that I have inside is more than two years old(repeat)"

  • "So their boats came on in(the enemys)-I tried to run away

So I got taken high by the throat(choked)-in the burnin light of day

Livin by the iron punch(he was beaten)-so broken and alone

I left my blood on the beach-for the tide to take me home

So my girl-she gave up-she had taken me for dead

She forgot all her promises-and everything she said

Livin in the darkest dream-I rose up in the cold(woke from a nightmare)

These scars that I wear outside -are more that two years old(repeat)

  • This is what it sounds like to me, Not sayin all the words are right!!

"I lost my british soul-pullin out the corpse

Sheltering in the trenches again-crying for remorse

I layed my arms(gun)down-walked away in a trance

Theres parts of me layed out-all over France

I took my last waltz-got caught up in the wire

Wrote a letter to my love-as I hid from the fire

An old soldier carried me-away to the coast

Bathed my wounds in the sea-I'm in the arms of a ghost(repeat)"

  • Does anyone know the lyrics?? :)

  • This song is something else.

It's tugging heartstrings it is... Amazing.

Does anyone know all the lyrics?

  • This is what we Americans call GREAT songwriting skills. Such a little Dylan boy isn't he? See everyone in Memphis, Mon, Aug 17th Kudos Tara once again . :)

  • oh, what a great song!

  • This one makes me cry every time I hear it or watch the video. I don't even have words for it. I just get goosebumps and the tears come. Bobby is truly a master.

  • Beautiful! Nice to here some of the commentary about the songs.

  • He put your(this) vid on his myspace!

  • I know! I was giggly all morning. I'm such a dork. lol

  • There's parts of me layed out, all over france.

briliant, love this song. The only thing i don't like is that he changed it from 'these wounds that i wear inside are two years old' to 'are MORE that 2 years old' takes the flow out a bit.

  • When I first heard this song I was amazed but everytime I hear it again it gives me chills. This is my favorite I really hope he puts it on itunes

  • thanks so much again tara....he's fantabulous on stage...so much heart!

  • Amazing. This song just destroyed me when he sang it that night. Fingers crossed that he releases this on iTunes soon.

  • one of my favorites!

    thank youuuu!
