for 16min and such low-quality this "movie" is absolutely brilliant. the most important aspect for me is the materiality of the film, note that it is referred to as a "video tape" not a movie, art, work, etc. mona pieces together her mother through the material, pictures, recordings, letters, etc. but these are only fragments of the real, and fragmented fragments at that. mona recognizes herself as material, immanent in form, threatened by external forces, longing, but never able to touch.
I love how much the piece tells you about Mona indirectly. Its like studying a bird from it's shadow
