In some obscure book I read that Albert Nicholas played with the philharmonic Orchestra of Cairo for some time but I could not verify this. As there seem to be a few quite knowledgeable folks around here, does anybody know if there' s something to this?
Yes, he changed in Egypt. He's Albert horn had some problem and he send it to Paris to repair, on the meanwhile he borrowed a Boehm horn just to try and he felt in love with that classical sound, then, when that Albert System come back he never used again. A really sad story.
great vid. anything with darnell is a treasure. a great under rated clarinet player. fyi darnell was one of the few no style players who din't play the albert system. if you look carefully you can see that it's a boehm system. great post bob thanks
