When she gets pregnant Charles asks Albert outright if he was the one who did it and he says no and Charles believes him. I remember being fairly young watching this and crying and crying. i will never forget the scene where albert is standing in the rain swearing to God that he didn't get his girlfriend pregnant. *shivers*

I would've rather she had lived. Her life was taken away so brutally, and she died alone except for Albert, the town and especially her own father was so (biting tongue* cruel toward her, my outrage gets up big time, and then it's so sad in the end. I would've rather she lived but the baby was either given up for adoption if Sylvia wasn't ready to keep it - or it miscarried - unless she would've loved it, then either of those ideas would've just compounded the problem. Either way, so very sad.
I agree, Mary sure had more than her share too when she grew up. I prefer the lighter episodes with a lot of humor, and the really suspenseful episodes that still come out right. Unfortunately "Sylvia" is as far removed from that as the three season 10 movies, none of which I liked.

If anyone doesn't like these grim endings, the LHTVRPG google group is for re-writing a new series and changing things up a little so that Albert doesn't die and Walnut Grove doesn't get blown up. Everyone is way off...Charles and Caroline had a son-their 4th child-he died. Then, around Season 5 Albert was adopted. Near the end of the series, there is a special episode in which Albert cannot go to college b/c he is dying...never shows that part on the episode.

Albert die?? He was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. He came back to Walnut Grove to see his sister and he also met a girl in school and he joined the class in climbing the giant hill to bury some things the class gathered. Time capsule. Never saw him die on that episode but he was going to.
Albert fell in love with a girl who was raped and with that pregnant. The rapist the blacksmith of the town. Albert did not kill him. Sylvia's father did. We were led to believe she died due to their last kiss and closing of her eyes..and that we never saw her again.
This episode was good. Kind of sad though. I felt like I was watching a horror movie at times because of the rapist in a clown mask.
