  • W-R-A-G radio, between the cotton patch & the railroad. Ran off two strands of "bob wire" and a flashlight battery....according to Carl...Carrolton, AL...with the face in the courthouse window. (Unless you FB readers have been there, you won't understand.)

  • That's gotta be an original 5 string...Maybe even a Granada

  • la verdad que muy bueno es Buddy Rose, en mi forma de ver lo veo con un estilo al de el gran maestro y legendario Earl Scruggs, y me da la impresion, que esta con un Gibson RB 250 Mastertone, muy bueno, exelente !!!

  • Guarantee you that's an original flathead banjer there,

  • That's a nice Gibson mandolin he's got there.

  • I worked with John Fields, brother of Monroe Fields, who is on the mandolin. John is being buried today.

  • Man Buddy Rose was SMOOTH with that banjo...Man that feller could play..Is he still alive?

  • @bigmrclean I don't think he is. He was great.

  • Buddy died in the early 70's. I have my dad's Gibson that he got from Buddy who had a music store in our town. Marvelous talent.

  • Gibson banjo? If so what model?

  • father in Law? Sweet Deal,,Kudos

  • One of the cleanest and straight forward banjo breaks in the history of bluegrass music by Buddy Rose here.

  • That's my father in law on the fiddle. He's still at it today...

  • I am so glad to hear about Jim Brock. I enjoyed his playing so much as I was growing up. He was playing in Carrolton Al at that time. Iam glad he is still playing. Please keep me informed.

  • Just had a fish fry with him last night in Aliceville and listened to some picking and grinnin with him and his son and the young Ruby Jane. My uncle Fred(Spark Plug) Richardson also played with the Green Valley Boys for a while, he played banjo.

  • you can search my account by typing tb66al in the search box and there are several videos of him and 14 year old fiddle player Ruby Jane Smith from Columbus MS.

  • Always enjoyed watching your Dad with Jim and Jesse when they played out of Dothan, Alabama. They were some of the best days of my life.

  • There is a new DVD out with Jim and Jesse, Monroe and Flatt from 1972 J&J TV show. JIm Brock is on there-it is 30 minutes long and you can get it from Jesse McReynolds-just type in Jim and Jesse on Google and you will see the web site. It is very good and in color.

  • These guys are as smooth as velvet ! Their on-stage performance is as tight, talented and as pleasing to the ear as any top-end bluegrass oufit I've heard. Classic rare footage from the era when bluegrass music really seemed to have reached its greatest pinnacle of achievement & success, what with so, so many fabulous artists of the time, first honed in the 40's & 50's, in proliferation & at their performing-peak in those days of the early 60's. I could listen to this all day ..

  • I like this kind of music..is there anymore..does anyone know of emma smith...she is a great gospel singer..i really like bluegrass gospel music...i used to work in a gospel radio station...i heard a lot of music...emma smith was one singer whose music i had a lot of request for...any of this type of music anyone can post here..i'll say 'thanks' now in advance...God Bless..........

  • What are these films from?

    Thanks for them.

  • The family of Carl Sauceman had saved some old reels with several footages of the Green Valley Boys from august 1962. Thanks to the help of Frank Godbey, Russ Farmer and one of Russ' colleagues efforts to transfer this to VHS, we are now able to enjoy this great music!

  • wow! i am impressed! that sounds great!

  • Does anyone know if this was filmed in Alabama? If so, where?

  • That's nice! Buddy Rose (the banjo player)later had a TV show and I got to play banjo on it in 1971 when I was 17. He was a wonderful man.
