I've gotta say, this version is so much better than the newer video. I seen this on CMT long before the other came out and thought this one to have more everything. The way the video was shot, the scenery and area it was shot in, the content and idea behind it with that more relaxed sense. Just everything.
I also just love the fact that it's acoustic, really shows off his singing chops and proves that he belongs in the music industry, no doubt.

Saw him live last night (11/26) in Atlanta.. great show! And no - you don't have to be from the South to be country. I grew up in the Midwest, and everything in this song speaks to where I grew up. The difference between you and Mr. Thompson is that you are southern. He is from 20 minutes north of Milwaukee. It's almost like its a forced accent. I live in southeast Tennessee with an accent thick as molasses. If I were to sing with a heavy British accent it would raise some brows. Same type of thing. It's just odd to me.
