The ability of british musicians to transition from guitar bands regardless of genre to electronica groups is simply incredible. After watching "24 hour party people", I was stunned. I've had no idea punk spawned much of the most creative late 80's groups and projects that are considered cult since day one. You gotta tip your hat off to them, gentleman or not.
What's in a name? Face on a stage. Where are you now? Memory fades, you take a bow. Here in the dark. Watching the screen. Look at them fall. The final scene. And we go doot. Doot doot. Look at them fall. Flicker and fade. Gone are the screams. I put them to bed, now they are dreams. And we go doot. Doot doot.
My friends and I got wasted at a cottage all weekend and had this song on repeat. It was the first we had all heard of it. It was on repeat for much of the 2 hour drive home, and ive had it looping for hours now. AND WE GO
@SuperYakuza893 Ist Top die 12" hab alle Songs von den, bis hin zu ersten Underword LP. Sad mir dein Adresse kann dir mal MP3 von Freur zukommen lassen. Es leben die 80er. Gruß
Thanks so much for posting this. I'm fairly sure they did their last gig before calling it a day at the Marquee; does anyone know when that was? It was totally packed - I ended up sitting on the stage - and very, very emotional, I think to an extent that even surprised Karl. It must have been after this, but I can't work out how long after....
@kabongpope Kike THE Underworld? I just re-discovered this tune after watching "Let me in" - last time I heard it was back in the 80s on a reel-tape I recorded from a show on the TV - cool song! :)
Funny story, I went to a Blur concert once because I thought that was who played this song (similar sounding name). Went through the whole concert thinking, "when the hell are they going to play Doot Doot". When the lights finally came on I realized I'd made a big mistake.
Best mood music of the 80's along with Brian Ferry. Put that on a cassette tape and see if you can get to second base with your date ha ha.
RIGHT ON!! My best bud & I LOVED this song, had it on an old recording from the radio but didn't know the name or who did it. Then miraculously an overnight DJ several years back played it just because he loved it so much.
Really wonderful! It is one of the best electronic pop-ular song ever, together with "Fade to grey" and "Tainted love" (and I was there, not that night!)
met the band in 84 at a CBS record do at thr grand in torquay , got the vinyl and probably 15 years later got into underworld seen them 3 times , cool
kinda culture clubbish, but not as gay and without boy george, this one-hit-wonder was big in the early 80's...still b 4 its time if you listen to more music from that era...
Just listen to the album. There are some really atmospheric tracks that will stick in your mind. It might take a few listens, but great when you get to know the songs
lol wow this song is pretty old i went to outdoor lab camp for a school thing and every morning before we ate breakfast we danced to this song lol. such a good song!!
This must be the origin of goth, or at least space-goth.
Some of these sounds have been adopted by Orgy, Deadsy, My Birthday Massacre and other recent bands....I wonder what Robert Smith (the Cure) and Wayne Hussey (the Mission) thought of these guys.
I was at this show and remember it well. The reason the footage is so good is that it was filmed and broadcast live via satellite. Unfortunately i can't get it play properly, otherwise I might spot myself aged 19 in the audience.
My God.... I haven't seen this video since MTV's (when it was cool) late show "The IRS Special"! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG. WISH WISH WISH I would've been at the concert.
Have always thought of this as a song of greater glory. What you hear as you walk away from some unpleasant event into a brighter future.Letting the light into your dark places and putting a positive spin on things.Doot doot my friends.Doot doot indeed...
one of my favorite hit!

I was there when they shot this video at the old Marquee club.
They played there a few times, this was filmed for broadcast in Europe I seem to remember.
They were a lot bigger in Europe than the UK.
