But you picked the wrong guy to talk about demography with. Here's a fact - there is a statistical significant correlation between pulling a person out of poverty to their fertility rate. Want to lower population growth? End extreme poverty. It's proven to be a fact transcending culture, nationality, and religion.

I took that class at UC Davis. it was called Economic Growth & Development. Interesting class taught by a Socialist out of Belgium. Explained well by foreign aid programs work just as well to help developing nations to get out of poverty as US welfare and gov't housing programs started by LBJ under the Great Society Doctrine. Have you ever been in Gov't housing complex? The more you help the poor, the less they are willing to work to improve their lives.

If you bring people out of EXTREME poverty, children's roles change from potential income earners (e.g. child labor) to sources requiring investment (e.g. high level schooling).

hey thechamp23443 - here's how it works. I liquidated whatever savings I had to get to Bangladesh and stay for a few months. I used the very last of my savings (set aside for an Xbox 360) for one last big push. Since then I started accepting donations - but I don't use it for my personal expenses (airfare, food, etc). I borrow from family and some friends for that. In addition, the 2 week trip to Kenya was made possible with help from a company called Vestergaard-Frandsen.
