If you analyze the "Civil War" (or as we like to call it, the "War of Northern Aggression") then you can see that it could have been avoided if Lincoln had bowed out of the race for president. Immigration restrictions are a violation of the individual rights of US citizens. We have the right to sell to whomever we choose, hire whomever we choose, and rent homes to whomever we choose. Screening for criminals at the border, requiring ID checks, sure. But it is wrong to block people from coming into this country to live and work when so many Americans WANT to do business with them.

I expect those kinds of laws in socialist countries like Canada, but not in the US. The sovereignity of a free country is derived from the sovereignity of each individual in the country. The purpose of government is to protect individual sovereignity, not violate it. Hiring a person from a foreign country does not violate the rights of any other citizen--workers do not have the right to be free of competition; homeowners do not have the right to dictate to others to whom they can sell or rent.
The bottom line is that the government has the right to dictate what non-citizens it allows into the country, period. If they decide to restrict the rights of employers to hire individuals that are legally here, then yes, that would be wrong. But the government's duty to enforce our borders supersedes your right to hire whomever you wish. And our current immigration laws aren't immoral, they are in the best interests of America's citizens, the only group the government has responsibility for.
The government has a duty to protect us from criminals, enemy agents and foreign invasion. Immigrants who come here to work are none of those. I have no problem with "enforcing the borders" so long as we have legal channels for immigrant workers to enter the country. I disagree that these restrictions are in anyone's best interest. They are a form of subsidy for worker wages, but all they do is keep prices artificially high, and increase the taxes going to the INS, cancelling any benefit.
How many times does it have to be said to you? WE DO have legal channels for immigrants to come through. Given how high unemployment is, it is in our best interest to limit how many people can come through those channels in order to protect jobs for Americans. Also, individuals who come here, refuse to assimilate into our culture and claim that a number of our states should become part of Mexico would likely qualify as foreign invaders by just about any honest assessment of the term.
More people means greater demand for products and services, which means more jobs. That's basic free market economics. If we'd ditch the minimum wage we could have full employment for everyone who wants a job.

If you analyze the "Civil War" (or as we like to call it, the "War of Northern Aggression") then you can see that it could have been avoided if Lincoln had bowed out of the race for president. Something that the history books don't tell you is that the south was about to switch over to a more industrial economy and start releasing slaves. Within ten years, all of the southern slaves would have been freed (with full rights) and problems of today wouldn't be as bad.

Immigration restrictions are a violation of the individual rights of US citizens. We have the right to sell to whomever we choose, hire whomever we choose, and rent homes to whomever we choose. Screening for criminals at the border, requiring ID checks, sure. But it is wrong to block people from coming into this country to live and work when so many Americans WANT to do business with them.
Blocking immigration IS fascism. If you believe in laissez-faire, then open the borders.

They arose in precisely that period of history that he describes as America's "fascist moment." Not if our laws, say you can't. I cannot go 80 in a 55 mph speed zone. If I do, I get punished. I pay a fine. If we disagree with the speed limit, we have to have the law changed. We the U.S. citizens, vote to have it changed. Not a foreign illegal people. If we vote to change the speed limit, we do not then, go back and reward those who broke the speed limit, before we changed it. That is exactly, what amnesty does. It rewards law breakers, who have broken current laws. That is ass backwards.

We have a legal way for *some* to come here, but the demand for workers in both manual labor and high tech jobs is much higher than what is being supplied through legal channels. You are not protecting US citizens, because US citizens are not threatened by foreign workers. People are a country's greatest resource, the more we have the more wealth we produce. As a sovereign nation, we have the right to decide who gets to be here. Have you ever looked into emigrating to Canada or any first world European nation? It's difficult, there are a lot of hoops to jump through and they won't take just anyone. To say that people should be able to employ whoever they want without regard to the law is equivalent to saying they should be able to employ those people for whatever tasks they want, regardless of whether those tasks are illegal. I expect those kinds of laws in socialist countries like Canada, but not in the US. The sovereignity of a free country is derived from the sovereignity of each individual in the country. The purpose of government is to protect individual sovereignity, not violate it. Hiring a person from a foreign country does not violate the rights of any other citizen--workers do not have the right to be free of competition; homeowners do not have the right to dictate to others to whom they can sell or rent.

The bottom line is that the government has the right to dictate what non-citizens it allows into the country, period. If they decide to restrict the rights of employers to hire individuals that are legally here, then yes, that would be wrong. But the government's duty to enforce our borders supersedes your right to hire whomever you wish. And our current immigration laws aren't immoral, they are in the best interests of America's citizens, the only group the government has responsibility for.

The government has a duty to protect us from criminals, enemy agents and foreign invasion. Immigrants who come here to work are none of those. I have no problem with "enforcing the borders" so long as we have legal channels for immigrant workers to enter the country. I disagree that these restrictions are in anyone's best interest. They are a form of subsidy for worker wages, but all they do is keep prices artificially high, and increase the taxes going to the INS, cancelling any benefit.

How many times does it have to be said to you? WE DO have legal channels for immigrants to come through. Given how high unemployment is, it is in our best interest to limit how many people can come through those channels in order to protect jobs for Americans. Also, individuals who come here, refuse to assimilate into our culture and claim that a number of our states should become part of Mexico would likely qualify as foreign invaders by just about any honest assessment of the term.

Again, quotas serve the interests of the American people, hence the government should have them in place. The demand isn't as great as you make it out to be because most illegals form fairly insular communities, plus they aren't buying the high priced goods that make the economy tick. The way to get full employment isn't to ditch minimum wage, it's to reform welfare and make everyone who is able to work get a job of some sort. And lots of immigrants refuse to assimilate. It's become an issue.
