  • I own 4 guitars

  • 110 guitars in 3 minutes

  • Whoever chopped this vid up fucked it up and ruined it.

  • Which one goes up to 11?

  • 0:24 "And that's just uh... One of about 155 guitars that I've got..."

  • "Hi, listen to me as I awkwardly lay on the ground"

  • What song is he playing at 2:15

  • @Robinator7991

That's The Byrds' version of Mr. Tambourine Man. Same guitar as used on the record.

  • Seriously, I thought the title read 'Greg Howe's Guitar Collection', then I saw this old dude and appalled at him.

  • no 58 les paul?

  • Yes was Spinal Tap !!

  • This reminds of Spinal Tap. "All these numbers go to eleven"

  • seen better

  • I love the way he shows us the 'Lovely Telecaster' at the start by just pointing at it IN ITS CASE!

Come on Steve, your licks rule but your 'show-and-tell" skills leave a lot to be desired.

  • @wesmatron Come on didn't you get the Spinal Tap reference where Nigel points at a guitar then tells the interviewer to not even look at it because the value may go down. The one with the price tags still on it you know. I really think this is a Spinal tap reference.

  • @egcroan I'd totally agree if he either opened the case or gave some sort of 'knowing' 'nod' *no matter how subtle)

  • nice pose

  • I love Steve's music and my Telecaster, but where did he get that the Telecaster came before phones and TV? The Telecaster was originally called the Broadcaster and it was first distributed nationwide in 1950. The first TV was in 1928 and they were in many US homes by the late 1940's. Bell invented the telephone in 1876 for goodness sake! Maybe England was a bit behind the times, but not by that much! Leo actually named it to capitalize on the popularity of broadCAST TELEvision.

  • @DrinkThunderbird Im sure Steve was saying it as a bit of a joke, but thanks for your factual correction.

Bell was Scottish by the way.

  • I like his salomander fingers.

Hey, why shouldn't he have a shit load of guitars, the music he creates from them brings joy the all the rest of us! Many were proably gifts anyway.

  • more, more, MORE!!! show all 155!

  • Cool, I own 2 guitars, they should make a documentary about me.

  • nice pants

  • That Les Paul looks like the less expensive studio model

  • @aaallleeexxx62 No man, that's a custom Les Paul.

With a bookmatched flamed maple top.

    It's probably worth 15,000.

  • @MrDunkJunk oh oh. I was just wondering, because it didn't appear to have any binding on the body.

  • HAHAHAHA, oh the intro :p THe pose, the hair, the pants.. and the fact that he says "over a 155 guitars".. I think, I THINK!!!! Over a 150 would've sounded better :p

  • Une belle collection de guitares, la plus belle étant sa "Les Paul deluxe", qui a du être rarement utilisé...

  • Cool!!

I would love to have this many or even more guitars one day. Just dreamin I guess!

They all feel different and sound different but you can only play one at a time.

    Rock on.

    ImL

    l l

  • The first Les Paul he showed was awesomely beatiful guitar

  • Is an dream the guitars

  • i think that this guitarists would have to do their bit for charity with their instead of buying millions of extremely expensive guitars

  • @MrCicciodesellero He didn't buy "millions" of guitars, he said he had 150. Since he is a musician, those are his tools of the trade. BTW Steve has donated lots of money to charities and performed at several benefit concerts

  • @timin770 i know, i was talking in general.

and sorry for my bad english

  • WTF THERE IS A PERVERT ON THE FLOOR THAT LOOKS LIKE HITLER 0.0.

  • Steve Howe is an incredible talent, musically. But he is the goofiest looking motherfucker I've ever seen when playing the guitar. But I still love the music!

  • Bad intro... splayed all out in his tight orange (or should I say peach?) colored pants... excuse me while I scrub my eyes... Hats off to Steve though!!

  • Who's complaining about how many guitars he owns? Take a look at Joe Perry who has around 600 guitars or better yet Rick Neilson with around 2,000.

  • gibson telecaster? kkkk he smocked crack? kkkk

  • @nickcg He's saying its like a telecaster, I think the man knows his guitars

  • @AniSaps gibson can't do telecasters because it is property of fender... gibson never did telecasters man :D

  • @nickcg He said "it's Gibson's telecaster" meaning that he was comparing it to the telecaster in terms of the simpleness of the les paul jr. hence when he said "just plug it in and play"

  • who needs 155 guitars? Steve Howe that's who!

  • I met Steve at a Meet and Greet, along with Squire, after a House of Blues show. I was in awe to meet these guys, but Steve wouldn't even speak to us. Totally aloof. I said "I really enjoyed your show." He looked off and ignored me. BUT, I'm not worthy-- he's a legend, so I can accept it. But I still thought it was disappointing. Chris Squire was the same. Again, though-- they still top my list.

  • @4eyed4stringer Not that that has ANYTHING to do with this video! He has some awesome guitars.

  • @4eyed4stringer :: i met Steve in Nashville, and he was very gracious..even put his initials on my ES175 ( under the pickguard) after my wife assured him that there was NO WAY i would ever part with it...he was concerned about eBay...

he doesn't shake people's hands, for health reasons, and to protect his livelihood from someone who might get carried away and damage those artful hands...

maybe you just caught them on a bad day...

  • @dyhanendra I think I must have. They warned us to not shake Steve's hand, so we did not attempt. Everyone was on best behavior. BUT, he and Squire seemed to be very unhappy that night. Idiots were getting up and down during the show buying beer (front row people!) DURING songs, and Howe was evil-eyeing them. Sqtuire was cussing someone out on his Blackberry during the meet n greet. It was not a good time to meet them. I'll try next time, though.

  • I want more of this!!!!! I would love to see al his guitars..

  • @MrDunkJunk there's a very nice hard-cover book about his guitars...The Steve Howe Collection ( oddly enough ) that shows a lot of them, though maybe not all...

  • I love the head bob thing that Steve always does... you can tell that guy loves what he does haha

  • Sweet!

  • I wish the video was longer.

  • I love when he says, "What can we look at next?"

  • HELP! I've fallen! And I can't get up!

  • danelectro rules!!!

  • hmm? maybe from a hash pipe?

  • thats aswesome, what song si that on the background?

  • @Ibik Sharp On Attack, one of his songs he put on the Guitar Speak album.

  • he's got the best guitar face ever (2:20)

  • @mattb1191 as opposed to a sex-face? You know the type, shortly before you dump the one sporting that expression

  • he is gay

  • For which songs he used the rickenbacker?

  • I'm sure he knows that guitars are tax deductible if you are a working musician.

    Steve's the man!

  • please... get over the pants thing, and if the man wants 200 guitars... who cares? He's happy - good for him.

  • Cut the first 11 seconds off, plz.

  • this is fucking unecesary. no one needs 200 guitar . what a fucking waste. he should distribute this guitar.

  • Distribute the guitars, huh? You mean like to you, right? Go out and earn your guitars you socialist bum!

  • ha ha classic spinal tap moment 0 steve

  • Where's the ES175? That's the quintessential Steve Howe axe!!

  • Michael Angelo should learn from this "Dick" -to play guitar without wanking over music. Michael Angelo is a masturbator of the guitar and belongs with you in your parents basement on top of the hairspray from which he came from.

  • And by the way dude the guy is a total gentleman... very humble and intelligent.. not his fault he's a genius...

  • 2.09 the reason the Danelectro looks 'burnt' is that Steve and his roadie tried to convert this guitar and another into a twin-neck! Didn't work, obviously..

  • @sufcok

No, that's where the guitar attached to his swiveling guitar stand in the 70's when he had 3 guitars bolted to an armed pole so he could play different one's for different sections in a song.

  • he seems perfectly nice to me. but even if he was a dick, he kicks ass.

  • what song is that on background?

  • BEAUTIFUL TELES

  • how do people like this stop their strings going rusty with so many guitars? i got 5 that i play regularly and it drives me mad. perhaps wiping them down after every use?

  • I would think the very fact that they have so many means they don't get to play them so often. The less you play them, the less finger grime and sweat gets on the strings, the slower they will corrode. They will over time of course, but if you keep them in hard cases like that, the environment is pretty dry and stable, hence shiny strings. Wiping them will help, like you say. Have you tried coated strings?

  • the second guitar he shows, the dan electro, is the same type jimmy page use to favor when he was doing electric slide work (in my time of dying, etc.).

  • Which guitar still had the tagger on it never to be played, evah? Don't touch it, in fact you've already seen enough!

Seriously, I would love to know how Steve's tele with the 3-way switch in the upper bout is wired.

  • Mr. Tambourine Man. (written by Bob Dylan) He played that because it bacame the signature sound of "The Birds" that Roger McGuinn made famous with his Rickenbacker....whick in turn influenced Tom Petty, a big gan of McGuinn's.

  • What´s the name of the tune he is playing at 2:15?

  • I dont know anything of Steve Howe so could someone tell me what the tune is he plays on the rickenbacker. Thanks

  • It's Mr Tambourine Man, the Byrds arrangement. Roher McGuinn played that on a similar Rick 12-string.

  • Thank you beeflin

  • it looks like he's just messing around, because that part wasn't in a Yes or an Asia song

  • How many does Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap have?

  • 150 guitars is a lot but not much compared to many guitarists that have money...

  • This Guy's Wierd... But Has Some Cool Gear :p

  • I expected him to say: "Well, this one goes to eleven."

  • TOTAL FAG haha

  • the first guy or Steve howe?

  • Not Steve that gaylord compere

  • NICE saw that red stratocaster yesterday :D Steve Howe still got it despite his age!

  • its not the same red strat he got that one stolen in an airport and fender made him a custom strat just like the other one

  • Pause at 1:16.

That's the amazing Martin guitar he plays on in all the Steve Howe videos here on youtube from his CD-ROM!

For those who were doubting whether it's Steve, there's even more proof.

  • FFFFUUUUUUU I want more !

  • first off, that was a horrible beginning. I wasn't expecting to see a man in ridiculous haircut and trousers reclining seductively on the ground

  • Rather gay pose, wasn't it??? How ridiculous a beginning.....

  • @matmoose rofl yeah.

  • @matmoose Are you saying that you like the "Hustler" style crotch shot?

  • Spyes23, Looks like a knot in the wood from where a branch was growing out of.

  • I'm curious.. at around 2:03 he talks about something on his guitar that "Yes fanatics would have to search about". What is that? Seems like a dark circle on the guitar, but the quality's pretty bad..... Anyone got any idea??

  • is it where it may have been clamped to a stand?

  • I would love to see the unedited footage because I am sure he talked more about each guitar. They kept cutting away right when I got interested.

  • i fucking love steve howe he rocks

  • listen to the sustain

  • you could go out, grab a bite to eat, come back and you'd still be hearing that one

  • 0:11 makes me sexy

  • What song was Steve playing at 2:16?

  • Mr. Tambourine Man

  • Mister Tambourine man by the Byrds.

  • Don't touch it , it's not to be played , just listen, don't touch.

  • GOOD ONE!! :D

  • Yea, Spinal Tap!!

  • @1i1feat don't even look at it...

  • @1i1feat dont even look at it!

  • @1i1feat don't even look at it!

  • @1i1feat

lmao!!! "don't even look at it".

  • haha What's up with that guy on the ground? The one with the hair... and the pant's?

  • oh man first 15 seconds made me laugh hard.

  • really, a little weird, but it's not about him, its all about Steve!

  • Did he said 150 guitars?!!?!?

BTW, I agree with GaryNull...buy a chair for that "fancy pants" guy!

  • The first 30 seconds of this video is disturbing.

  • He's perhaps most famous for playing a Gibson electric hollow body guitar in the early days of Yes. Which model of Gibson's was that one?

  • Gibson ES-175, which he is still playing.

  • Thanks, Iggy.

  • Steve Howe cracks me up, MY favorite among the best all time rock musicians/ YES / PINK FLOYD /ELP/ JETHRO TULL ETC ETC.

  • Emerson Lake and Palmer is who ELP is

  • STEVE HOWE IS GOD.

  • what is the name of the song he plays at 2:16??

  • hey mr tamobuiren man by the byrds,

  • @Drummer7813 mr tambourine man.Byrds version

  • I HATE 80'S VIDEOS

    nice collection though

  • the 1977 is a martin marquise eh?

  • hey narrator....nice pants buddy LOL

  • lol goes with his "nice" haircut

  • One of the coolest looking guitar I've ever seen is the one he uses to play CLOSE TO THE EDGE live in Yessongs the one that's attached to that steel structure that holds it in the air so he doesn't have to change guitars in the same song.

  • isn't that his electric sitar?

  • Yes it is in deed, looks soooo cool what a shame I can't play the sitar just guitar, Howe is god

  • its called an electric sitar because it sounds like a sitar (because of some sympathetic strings, amongst other factors), however it plays exactly like a normal electric guitar, so you could get one! =D

  • where can I find something on John's collection?

  • i think i saw a book about it on amazon, as well as steve's.

  • john entwistle had a crazy collection too...

  • That guitar at 2:20 look like the one Pete Townshend used to play

  • No, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds and George Harrison of The Beatles. 1:12 is the type Pete Townsend used.

I hate to think eventhough I am non musician that this collection would go to rich b-tard who can't play after Steve.

  • It's the same guitar buddy.

First he shows it and then plays it.

  • Allright, so I guess we can forget Pete Townsend. I can only say that the headstock is difficult to determine from this for 6 or 12. Btw. Steve Howe said in one interview that he had a special Gibson ES 175 made but it was stolen before he even got it wishing someone just owned it up..

  • I know he likes to display them, in performances. And that is good, adds to the effect. I want to see more of this kind of thing also.

  • the narrator at the beginning is in the msot awkward position haha...steve howe rules

  • Those a some fine axes there.

  • pure genius.

  • whats the name of the guitar in 1:21, its has a cool shape an a lot of frets!!!

  • that's a lap steel guitar, used only with slide

  • The guitar at 1:21 is a Gibson lap steel. Probably a late '30's EH-150. I have a 1939 Gibson EH-100 that is very similar. Incidentally, they don't have ANY frets, since you only play them with a slide. The lines you see are painted on to help you know where your slide is on the fretboard.

  • What a funny name for a show. Awesome clip, nonetheless.

  • He wasn't in Yes in 1988!

  • I think he broke up in 81 or something and formed ASIA with some others well knowed musicians

  • Yeah exactly

  • omg i have a single bass guitar, looks like goog old how pwned me there

  • I think I just inoculated :) Seriously, they should do a 2 hour special on Steve's guitars- I want more!

  • wahw, thanx for sharing this eye-candy, steve`s still rather young there ^^

  • I only have 22 guitars! I'm jealous!

  • I'm currently up to 145 guitars and basses-most of them vintage. The trick is-get a divorce! That's the ONLY way to achieve an awesome guitar collection! First you get the guitar. Then you get the band. Then you get the women. Then you get married. Then you lose the women. Then you get divorced. THEN YOU GET THE GUITARS!

  • well... at least you didn't start the collection while you were married... otherwise she would have half your guitars...!

  • Wow, that was cool. Thanks for sharing.
