  • How could you not listen to this and not want to hear more??? Listening to this made me pull out my poor old CD and will be playing it in the car and welcoming the New Year!!!! It just inspires, and takes me to my good place!...Yeah! My good place!!!! thanks for posting, love it! ; D

  • Gorgeous in all its original guise! And that added backmasking at the front-end... Love the trippiness!

  • Absolute perfection.

  • If this was released yesterday, it would blow most contemporary dance music out of the water. An absolutely indestructible piece of songcraft.

  • sigh, records don't sound like this anymore, beautiful production and melodies proper songwriting and craft. I prefer the original version but any version of this is fine by me. I long to hear sounds like this today, but I don't. I miss the early productions of Trevor Horn with McLaren and the Worlds Famous Supreme Team, ABC and Propaganda the Electro sounds of Bambaata and the New York Electro/Funk/Boogie axis, D Train, Chaka Khan and so on.

  • CLASSIC, gorgeous early 80s production with the help of NYC producer David Frank of The System.

  • loooooooooooooooove u!!!

  • every country i spinned this classic the label was always different but the wonderful track was always the same miss these days of lazy summers getting high and fucking boys everywhere

  • This song reminds me of inner city school junkies and private school flunkies.

  • 12 inch records rules....they are back.....baby

  • Fantastic is what comes to mind when i switch this music on

  • Such a smooth vocal and a great punchy sound.

  • all my 12" must be worth something now...

  • Did anyone think that he sounded like "Michael Jackson" back then?

    I sure... did!

I went out and traveled to Long Island to find this remix

    Loved it anyway!

Years later, I befriended some backround singers here in the U.S., that sung on both this, David Bowie, and Brian Ferry LP's...

"F-360" were their stateside names, and they did countless backing vocals on stuff over seas.

  • Did anyone think that he sounded like "Michael Jackson" back then?

    I sure... did!

I went out and traveled to Long Island to find this remix

    Loved it anyway!

  • @Jamallus yeah never thought of it like that. Well done on the pilgrimage

  • Did anyone think that he sounded like "Michael Jackson" back then?

    I sure... did!

I went out and traveled to Long Island to find this remix

  • Absolutely awesome.

  • Super, les années 80! Du bon maxi comme il n'y a plus aujourd'hui... snif! Nestor "da mix"

  • "I wanted to hear the B-side."

  • woaaawwww! scarcely can we find powerful beats at the first hear

  • O my god i feel like 14 again,.....yeahhhhh!!!

  • At 3:55, imagine yourself running on a mountain side with the sun setting in the background..... that's what that section feels like! Green is a genius!

  • Great song - brilliantly produced.. and not a bad edit either!!

  • What is their left to say!

  • Happy Music!

  • Awesome song and an awesome album.......great memories!!!!

  • Here's a real band...

...we'll not really a band, but you know what I mean. :-)

  • this will always shine.

  • Was it a dream.., or was I really 18 years old in 1984..

  • Comment removed

  • First heard this on Johnnie Boy's Wheels Of Steel on Virgin 1215 in the late '90s.

  • I'd forgotten about this one - It's so bright! I've falln in love with it all over again!

  • jouissance!

  • Great love!

  • ...old, good times...:)

  • One of the greatest bands of the 80's. Face it.

  • Scritti Politti did great things and where/are cool folks. This song takes me back to various NYC dance clubs and fun times.

  • Im 41 and this takes me back to 16??? Only had one other friend who would like it and she's not online to share!!! Awesome, thanks for posting!!!

  • @shan344 I share your sentiments and age,sad to know these songs are hard to find now....just history.

  • If wood beez was good this is great!!!!!

  • I must have worn out plenty of shoes to this CRACKING piece of music in the distant depths of time they call "The 80's"

Fond memories but the quality still shines through - don't you agree ? Scritti hardly made a dud one but this one goes to new heights. Marvellous !

  • Mixing engineer の GARY LANGAN がとても great です!!

  • Cupid and psyche was agreat album. Finally got the CD a few months back!

  • This was another production in which David Frank of the System of NYC did a lot of the production including the Moog basslines.

  • @hardcorehouse Spooky.. I work for Moog - seems strange to see my companies name on YT ! The Moog I know, was started by a relative of the Moog you know

  • So good...Greens' voice is so unique!

  • oh my god, I was fan of the band when I was 13 ! I may still have the LP somewhere in a carton box...

  • I would have sliced up the original and remix a bit differently - not that I'm exactly an experienced mixologist :) - but I do appreciate the effort to blend the two together.

  • Some world class musicians at work here. I liked it when i was 10, and i like it now !

  • TAHNKS I LOVE THIS SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH

  • 16 again!

  • Taken from Cupid & Psyche '85, the very first album i ever bought and to this day still one of my favourites. Eighties' greatness.

  • I`m sure that the fetured dj (mr cabaret time) is none other than Mike Reid of radio 1 at the time!

  • @THELORDOFTIME1000 think its jonathon king

  • And while cheggers was playing pop i was playing with his now ex wife haha

  • I so love this music. Happy memories.

  • finnaly the original song, 5 points to ssvideo1, yay :)))))))

  • 80's !!!

  • Great memories of a music, that we will never see again! Thankyou.

This song is like fresh bread.

    Andy

  • maaaaan, wish i could find a good download for this edit, amazing!

  • love the production on this record always have. Arif Mardin was always a gifted producer. What a life to work with so many talented artists throughout his career.

  • @monroeboy80 Thats what attracted me to this CD back in '85 was the production quality! Really high def sounding back then, especially if you had a good copy - I had the Japanese Import (Triangle) I used as a test disc because of the sonic superiority! Incredible dynamics, soundstaging and of course sheer Rhythm and Pace. Beautiful work Bernard Edwards and Jason Corsaro. Cheers !!!

  • what everyone else say, I LIKE THIS NUMBER!! =D=D

  • ...Caberet Time! This was the cut waaay back when I was in the AF lol!

  • he was on cheggers plays pop, when i was there,,, great post x

  • this is heaven to me,first scritti record i bought, just wonderful

  • 10 out of 10 (at least).

  • Oh the vinyl days...

  • Green Gartside is a fake!

  • @TheArchangel1961 he's a fake what?

  • love the 80´s

  • OHH yes!!! I could use this music to make an amazing flying film, like Jim Carrey said... AHHH LORRRRVE EEEET !

  • PURE QUALITY, SCRITTI POLITTI ARE THE BEST!

  • Good tune....!

  • I love this version to pieces. Thank you so much for posting it!!!

  • I've just uploaded the original Absolute video clip to my page, after seeing that other Scritti classics are back.

  • @komputerwelt I just went on your page to watch the video, but it's been taken down :( If your name is a reference to Kraftwerk, they're really great! :D

  • @TheModCon dude, it's still there. I am watching it right now. and yeah, Kraftwerk are the best. they and Scritti are among my top 5 musical acts.

  • @komputerwelt

Log out of your account and try to watch it again.. it's blocked by Warner Music

You can't see it if you're logged in

  • @jemiee oh god, that's so fucking lame. thanks for letting me know. sorry.

  • to my friend,absolutley x

  • thanx!!!

  • This is just beautiful

  • Actually it was produced by Arif Mardin, who produced the Average White Band. Drums by the great Steve Ferrone!!

  • just beautiful, like butterflies in my ears, all tingley and lovely and makes me smile, thanks ever so .

  • @ScrittiSparkle thanks for the link mate, I have been wanting to share all kinds of stuff with u lately on here, but You Tube keeps acting up and on your pms your words keep disappearing as soon as they appear! Love this!

  • 'Cupid and Psyche 85' is a masterclass in how over-production should be done.

  • this is a mint post,,, this gets played over and over... this is the 80s at its prime... he did cheggers play pop at our skool gig .... mint!!!!

  • this is a proper 80s classic ,,, thanks we had this on our cheggers plays pop in 84

xxxxx this gets played time... and time again...... good post x

  • Aaah buenos recuerdos de aquella juventud de los 80s y 90s, en fiestas con mi hermano y toda la gente amiga, en los tonos en Los Olivos...mi juventud en 8 minutos. Thanks!!!

    Saludos paganos.

  • i put on the orginal..for you...loved..yours..to

  • Jeah... and it´s "banned". ;(

  • great sounding album that still sounds cool. arif mardin produced and played by class musos like steve ferrone, paul jackson jr,will lee and robbie buchanan.green has a unique voice a little girly sounding but thats okay!

  • This is EXCELLENT, A HUGE Thank You for posting this on youtube, it's ACE :-)

  • The complete 12" extended has the intro a capella... do you want it? :-D

  • Fantastic memories of this song when i used to go to some nightclubs in birmingham called millionares and top cats, when they palyed this song the whole place would just come alive!! I always remembered going to the clubs but have no idea how I got back hehehehe Awesome!!!

  • WOW!!!

  • totally awesome!!!!!!!

  • Love the orginal, but that edit at 05:01 is bad.

Sounds to me like "Absolute (version)" joined to "Absolute (album mix)".

All the other edits are from the original version.

  • @tomstickland: Totally agreed. I make extended edits of songs, and you are absolutely right. This is an edit I would have "massaged" somewhat," you know? Made it unnoticeable.

  • Oh dear, looks like my comment has been unpopular. I know the original tracks too well (because I like them), so think that edit is far too obvious.

  • @Tre404 & tomstickland Hey, feel free to massage away. I made this in 1998 with a very basic version of cool edit. I would do it differently now too. But as this version has been adopted all over the net, a lot of people seem to like it, bad editing and all :-)

  • Hey, that is my edit!

  • This was a total jam!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok, let's have the original short version!!!!!Cheers!

  • Nice editing!! I like how you extended some of the memorable parts. I picked this 12" up about 4 months ago, and about wet my pants with excitement! haha

You oughta hear the perfect way 12" mixes.

  • Meow- I love the song; need to cop it again! Meow

Small fact: the order of background vocalists is BJ Nelson, Tawatha Agee and Fonzi Thornton. Meow- I'm a stickler for correct background vocalist information- thus I had the tape as well. Meow

  • Way Way back in 1984 I had the 7'' single of this tune..Blinding and the 2nd AND 3rd Albums were Superb !!!!!

  • Way Way back in 1984 I had the 7'' single of this tune..Blinding and the 2nd AND 3rd Albums were Superb !!!!!

  • remember the first time i heard this , blew me away, fave song of the 80s.

  • Whoa dude! I gotta get this track! Thanx 4 posting this!

  • gtfo...The Art of Noise helped produce this? no wonder I love it!

  • @glamslammer was produced by arif mardin wasnt it? i dont remember art of noise having anything to do with SP

  • @chevgr ahhh jjj on fairlights...they didnt have any production duties however

  • @glamslammer . This record was Produced by Arif Mardin. Gary Langan Remixed it. He was one of 5 members of of Art of Noise

  • @glamslammer Arif Mardin Produced the album. Check him out :-) (Aretha, Chaka Khan, Culture Club, Bee Gee's Nora Jones, etc)

  • Yeah!!!

  • is this the 'version'?

  • it's the b-side version from original 12 inch picture disc

  • Brilliant sound. Love all the synth action:)

  • I agree, I remember Scritti Politti, but never thought their stuff sounded bright like this, but I can see why, being JJ Jeczalik and Gary Langan (from Art Of Noise) did Fairlight/synth production on it

  • Yes sireee, that would explain it.

  • i had this track in all version on my second hand tapes :D

..this was big here in 84

  • Does all their music sound like this?

  • wood beez is good too but all other tracks have not this voice edits..

this might be the only track that were made with art of noise

  • I bet the Fairlight is doing a lot of the sampling. Great sounds. The real work is David Gamson on keyboards and Fred Maher on drums. Both of them had a lot of experience in stdio production.

  • JEMIEE: Seriously? I have the 12" pic, but have never played it, thinking it contained the same tracks as the regular 12" single! WOW.... I'm gonna have to run to my basement and bring it up! :-)

  • Only just come to know of this tune - can't believe it's passed me by for so long! Absolutely sublime.........
