I had the same shit happen to me, but luckily i was with a friend also carrying an AK 47 and luckily he quickly identified himself as a lawyer and the cops froze. Ha ha. He was spilling out law upon law and potential harassment suing and more laws and more laws. It surprised me that he showed his lawyer I.D. but he told me after we were speedily on our way again that as a law officer of the court he was OBLIGED to show his lawyer credentials but amusingly was not questioned over our AK 47s . .

I OC a revolver in AZ, not a problem around cops usually, they tend to give me a couple extra looks, but its a long barrel with a top strap on the holster, so its not exactly a gun that i could flick out real quick
I went through Law Enforcement Training and I am currently looking for a job in Law enforcement......anyway we were taught to not be aggresive about it and just ask questions like you said the LEO should have done. We were taught that open Carry s not Illegal and that if we were to encounter it just make sure that the person is being safe and not immature about it
I open carried my M1 Garand down town and it resulted in a MASSIVE police encounter. Open carry is legal in my state but it certainly is not usual at all. I had 6 cops and 3 cop cars surrounding me while they questioned me on the street for 45 minutes as well. Finally a fourth cop car shows up and all the officers circle up and one of them says "you know, he's not actually doing anything illegal." I asked if I could go and they followed me till I got home. It's expected unfortunately.

@StackVicious Well, first off I would carry it on my back. Also make sure you don't touch it with your hands except to keep it from falling off of you. You don't want people to think your going to pull it any min. Make sure you safety is also on so you don't catch the trigger on anything firing the gun. Don't act nervous or scared. Don't look around a lot more then you would normally. Be polite to people as you pass them on the street. And don't worry about the police. I hope this helps. Thanks
First off, I'm 100% pro gun and open carry. However, open carrying a high powered rifle for the sole reason that, "It's my right, I can." is not a valid excuse in my book. I have the right against self incriminating myself in court, but I'm not going to get arrested and sent to court so I can exercise that right.
If you know the law, you should know that the rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual. Walking down the street with a high powered battle rifle is suspicious.

Still fighting against the GFSZ (Gun Free School Zone) and a couple other restrictions. Just got Conceal carry passed, it isn't constitutional, but we are on the march, the empire is on the run. Open Carry everywhere you can legally, if you can't legally do it petition for your right to protect yourself. You have to fight for your rights! Open Carry educates people, OC DO IT!
New Mexico has open carry. You could do the same thing with an ak-47 or a Glock pistol. And many people do it especially business owners. God Bless America.

@TBLACK9IN You should learn the law. The law states that if you can legally own a gun, you can legally open carry that gun. So if you get the tax stamp for a full auto, you can open carry it. And your wrong about the reason for the ccw. The only reason there is a need to get a permit to conceal a gun is because back in the 1890s there was a fight between 2 guys. One guy started the fight, but the other guy had a gun concealed and shot him.

i once heard a lawyer talk about some thing like this. he said in TX we can open carry "long guns" (rifles and shot guns for those who dont know what a long gun is). the city can have an ordinance on if it can be loaded or not. he stated don't ask a police officer any thing about the law cause they don't know, call the DA's office and have them look it up.

No he didn't! LOL. I have not attempted to open carry here in NV and I know I can. Since I have a CCW I do carry conceal whenever I am off of work and I just don't want to deal with ignorant people and having to be surrounded by trigger happy police officers. Therefore you can open carry a full auto rifle. The law also says that if you can legally own the gun, you can legally open carry it. So if you can own a full auto, you can open carry it. Yes, it would be a lot safer with more open carry and more people who practice it. It is illegal in my state however, unless you are hunting or on the range. I live in SC which is actually a pretty gun friendly state but the law here just doesn't allow open carry. I wish it did. In some states it is not against the law, like in NC but there is no law to support it, in other words local jurisdictions can restrict it.

some state laws vary. in Virginia open carrying a loaded handgun is legal while open carrying in loaded rifle is not. open carrying a rifle is legal as long as the magazine is not attached to the weapon but you can carry it on your person. conceal carry is also legal with a permit.

What type of ammo are you carrying in your AK? Aside from sheep freaking out from it's "scary appearance" I'm sure you are aware that most 7.62x39 rounds are terrible for self defense, and will travel for a long distance or through many objects before stopping and could injure/kill any bystanders or some guy a mile away in his home. Sure, most people wouldn't challenge a guy with an AK, but if you carry for the reason of self defense vs. just making a scene, there are better guns for the job

I had the same shit happen to me, but luckily i was with a friend also carrying an AK 47 and luckily he quickly identified himself as a lawyer and the cops froze. Ha ha. He was spilling out law upon law and potential harassment suing and more laws and more laws. It surprised me that he showed his lawyer I.D. but he told me after we were speedily on our way again that as a law officer of the court he was OBLIGED to show his lawyer credentials but amusingly was not questioned over our AK 47s . .

I OC a revolver in AZ, not a problem around cops usually, they tend to give me a couple extra looks, but its a long barrel with a top strap on the holster, so its not exactly a gun that i could flick out real quick

I went through Law Enforcement Training and I am currently looking for a job in Law enforcement......anyway we were taught to not be aggresive about it and just ask questions like you said the LEO should have done. We were taught that open Carry s not Illegal and that if we were to encounter it just make sure that the person is being safe and not immature about it

I open carried my M1 Garand down town and it resulted in a MASSIVE police encounter. Open carry is legal in my state but it certainly is not usual at all. I had 6 cops and 3 cop cars surrounding me while they questioned me on the street for 45 minutes as well. Finally a fourth cop car shows up and all the officers circle up and one of them says "you know, he's not actually doing anything illegal." I asked if I could go and they followed me till I got home. It's expected unfortunately.

@StackVicious Well, first off I would carry it on my back. Also make sure you don't touch it with your hands except to keep it from falling off of you. You don't want people to think your going to pull it any min. Make sure you safety is also on so you don't catch the trigger on anything firing the gun. Don't act nervous or scared. Don't look around a lot more then you would normally. Be polite to people as you pass them on the street. And don't worry about the police. I hope this helps. Thanks

First off, I'm 100% pro gun and open carry. However, open carrying a high powered rifle for the sole reason that, "It's my right, I can." is not a valid excuse in my book. I have the right against self incriminating myself in court, but I'm not going to get arrested and sent to court so I can exercise that right.
If you know the law, you should know that the rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual. Walking down the street with a high powered battle rifle is suspicious.

Open Carry isn't an event it is a lifestyle/habit. I open carry a Sig Sauer P226 everywhere I can legally in Wisconsin. Still fighting against the GFSZ (Gun Free School Zone) and a couple other restrictions. Just got Conceal carry passed, it isn't constitutional, but we are on the march, the empire is on the run. Open Carry everywhere you can legally, if you can't legally do it petition for your right to protect yourself. You have to fight for your rights! Open Carry educates people, OC DO IT!

I live in michigan and there is an open carry law,I also have a cpl,and there is know way I would carry a weapon of that nature,It isn't legal if its fully auto any way.I truly believe that if you carry openly you are truly trying to prove a point and or showing off.Thats the the reason for legal concealment.....Fighting with authority is almost always a no win situaution......Stick to open carry outings and functions...Don't write a check your ass can't cash...My oppinion..only....

@TBLACK9IN You should learn the law. The law states that if you can legally own a gun, you can legally open carry that gun. So if you get the tax stamp for a full auto, you can open carry it. And your wrong about the reason for the ccw. The only reason there is a need to get a permit to conceal a gun is because back in the 1890s there was a fight between 2 guys. One guy started the fight, but the other guy had a gun concealed and shot him.

i once heard a lawyer talk about some thing like this. he said in TX we can open carry "long guns" (rifles and shot guns for those who dont know what a long gun is). the city can have an ordinance on if it can be loaded or not. he stated don't ask a police officer any thing about the law cause they don't know, call the DA's office and have them look it up.

No he didn't! LOL. I have not attempted to open carry here in NV and I know I can. Since I have a CCW I do carry conceal whenever I am off of work and I just don't want to deal with ignorant people and having to be surrounded by trigger happy police officers. Granted that I am just throwing a blanket label on all officers being trigger happy but in the last year alone their have been numerous police related shootings and it didn't go well for the person because they ended up dead.

Yes, it would be a lot safer with more open carry and more people who practice it. It is illegal in my state however, unless you are hunting or on the range. I live in SC which is actually a pretty gun friendly state but the law here just doesn't allow open carry. I wish it did. In some states it is not against the law, like in NC but there is no law to support it, in other words local jurisdictions can restrict it.

some state laws vary. in Virginia open carrying a loaded handgun is legal while open carrying in loaded rifle is not. open carrying a rifle is legal as long as the magazine is not attached to the weapon but you can carry it on your person. conceal carry is also legal with a permit.

That is why I think ALL cops should be requires to go to college and study law. The law is "Going Armed To The Terror of Public" or something along those lines, so if someone calls police and says theres a guy with a gun and is scared then its gonna be a hell of a day for that person carrying haha. Cops know the laws. They don't care about the laws. To themselves THEY ARE THE LAW. Now Officer Friendly died decades ago. That was the cop who did care about your rights, your safety, and your property. It used to be only criminals hated the cops, now its everyone.

What type of ammo are you carrying in your AK? Aside from sheep freaking out from it's "scary appearance" I'm sure you are aware that most 7.62x39 rounds are terrible for self defense, and will travel for a long distance or through many objects before stopping and could injure/kill any bystanders or some guy a mile away in his home. Sure, most people wouldn't challenge a guy with an AK, but if you carry for the reason of self defense vs. just making a scene, there are better guns for the job

@rcbif101 I had soft points in the rifle. Those do the most damage. And I'm real good with my rifle. I will make a video soon about how efective the AK47 can be for defense in the streets. Thanks

.22lr will travel a long ways as well. .22lr can kill bystanders. You know that police use .223 remmington, .308 winchester, 30-06, and others. The point is that any good or stray shot could maybe possibly injure someone.
