i'm 21 and a uni student. i only recently looked into politics but the lib dems have given me hope that there can be useful change in our government. This has also brought to light the fact that of all my friends here i only found 1 who has thought of voting and she's voting conservative! i find it scary that people my age (supposedly the future of our country) don't care about the election of our own government any more and something needs to be done to change this before it's too late!

@VisitingWizard The apathy in young people in the country is very frightening. I do think, though, that being a student makes it even worse - you live in this sort of not-quite-real world... I don't know. I just know that when I was a student (during the last general election) I shamefully paid it very little attention, and didn't vote. Now, however, it all seems much more part of the real world. And yes, I'm voting Lib Dem, of course.

I also think there's a great difficulty by the fact that the Labservatives are so similar, and people think they are the only two options. I was 12 when Labour came into office, and so I don't really remember when they actually presented different options and ideologies. Which is why, again, I think the solution is to make as much noise as possible. People may well agree with Lib Dem policies, but think there's no point voting for them. The more noise, the more people may think it'll work

I am 'KallumMcI' whom asked Nick Clegg a question on this viedo about the prospects of Lib Dem proposals to scrap out Trident Nuclear Submarines. I feel at this time even though the cold war is over and I do support Nuclear Disarmment I think we need Trident. If not renewing it fully, maybe renewing on a scaled back measures. As Nick says in the video, the Liberal Democrats oppose a like for like replacement of Trident, which leaves space for some kind of nuclear deterrent - just not the current pointless level of destructive capability we currently posses. This means saving money for the kind of defence equipment we really need (helicopters, anyone?) and helping to reduce the deficit.
