The PS3 has a better processor, and it has to process more data (BluRay discs have bigger capacity than dual layered DVDs), and the only reason that Xbox is loud is because it has a very cheap DVD drive, it has nothing to do with the electrical use. mine runs silent most of the time...but one time I had it in a poorly ventilated shelf system and it got hotter that way so the higher fan speed kicked in while playing, which was about as loud as cpu fan at 100%. Keep it in a cool, open area and it should be quiet.
40GB and I can't complain, blows some REALLY warm air out though (normal), not hot just warm. Quite noisy if im playing for a while, but not really noticeable.

if the ps3 didnt cool enough y arent there ne issues with the ps3 overheating. its not really whether the fans cool enough or not. the main reason y the 360 overheats so much is because its design was rushed. the fan in the 360 is a mile away on the other side from chips, leaving all tha heat there and it only comes out 1 way. the fan in the ps3 is right under the chips. and the fan pushes the heat away from it in almost every direction so plz think before u say some bs lik that.
The PS3 is definitely more quiet, but there's no point in having that console if there's barely any good games on it. And when you play games you can barely hear the console's noise if you have your volume maxed out.

O and also i compared the ps3 noise to the ps2 slim noise (the slim has no fan) and the ps3 is quieter i was amazed that that litle ps2 slim was louder than the ps3, o and the loudness does matter, because the louder the 360 gets the more it is strugling to stay alive trust me mine broke, when it starts getting loud your fucked.

Umm ... no. The PS3 has a better processor, and it has to process more data (BluRay discs have bigger capacity than dual layered DVDs), and the only reason that Xbox is loud is because it has a very cheap DVD drive, it has nothing to do with the electrical use. mine runs silent most of the time...but one time I had it in a poorly ventilated shelf system and it got hotter that way so the higher fan speed kicked in while playing, which was about as loud as cpu fan at 100%. Keep it in a cool, open area and it should be quiet.

40GB and I can't complain, blows some REALLY warm air out though (normal), not hot just warm. Quite noisy if im playing for a while, but not really noticeable.

if the ps3 didnt cool enough y arent there ne issues with the ps3 overheating. its not really whether the fans cool enough or not. the main reason y the 360 overheats so much is because its design was rushed. the fan in the 360 is a mile away on the other side from chips, leaving all tha heat there and it only comes out 1 way. the fan in the ps3 is right under the chips. and the fan pushes the heat away from it in almost every direction so plz think before u say some bs lik that.

The PS3's only quieter b'cos the fans dont cool it enough. If I were to have a coin for every time i've seen the PS3 in my store crash or overheat, id be ~£20 better off a year. It's stupid, what's the point of being quiet if that's bad for the console? Ye I admit, the 360 has it's issues with the red-rings. However not only are most of them due to bad connections at the back, but they're also ALL repaired for free now, so no worries. However, the same is definitely NOT so with the PS3!

Umm, you're wrong. The consoles in stores, are NOT part of the production line. The production line is ALWAYS better. Only an idiot judges a console by the display models. No our PS3 is taken from a retail model box. So you cant use that excuse. Also we keep it out in the open, yet it still messes up often.
So what your PS3 hasn't failed (yet)? When you work in retail, even just a weekend job, you see the Macro events; in other words, I see how many PS3s are brought back.
In the end, noise isnt what determines a good console, it's games. Something the PS3 massively lacks, and will still lack until after Xmas. The poor sales of the PS3 reflect this.

If you work at any large retail store (Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, K-Mart, Gamestop, etc.) you won't be using a retail PS3. So don't even try and pull that BS over on me.
