The point the commercial is trying to make is that the Japanese whale hunt is wrong. Therefore, recognizably Japanese actors are used. This is not done to spread prejudice, but to illustrate the point that whaling, in any context, is unacceptably painful and cruel. It would not have made much sense to use Australian actors, since the guilty country here is Japan. Powerful ad!

The point the commercial is trying to make is that the Japanese whale hunt is wrong. Therefore, recognizably Japanese actors are used. This is not done to spread prejudice, but to illustrate the point that whaling, in any context, is unacceptably painful and cruel. It would not have made much sense to use Australian actors, since the guilty country here is Japan. Powerful ad!

Since you have introduced cattle into the argument, it may be relevant that I am vegan, and so I also oppose the slaughter of cattle, but this is outside the real question of whether whale hunting is cruel and wrong.

Don't forget that many whale's are endangered due to European and Australian whaling, what was done for mostly cosmetic reasons. In fact whaling and the export of whale by-products such as whale oil became Australia's first primary industry.
