i hunt rabbits/roos/pigs in australia and my dog breads are staghound x bull arab for all 3, hunting rabbits and roos with her is alot of fun! good strong chaser and hits like a pitbull. i use a wolfhound x am bulldog for pigs and also a bull arab x pitbull works a treat.

what do you have to do to train beagles for rabbit hunting?

bloodlines have alot to do with it. Tease them with rabbit scent, get them using their nose by dragging hot dog pieces then use rabbit scent with treats at the end. Walk them inb rabbity areas and try to jump up rabbits with them, use a captured rabbit for the to chase, take them to a starting pen. Also you need a shock collar to shock them off of deer, fox, coyote, squirrel, cats etc.

Hell one of the beagle clubs closed so they could build the Century Tel Center in Bossier City, La. Hard to believe that I watch hockey games now where I used to run beagles. Im just gonna run on our deer lease now. But im lookin for some good dogs. Any tips on where to find a a good dog. Dont want no biscuit dog ya know.

When I was a kid used to run my dogs in field trials at a beagle club in east texas called LA-Tex Beagle Club. We had a lot of dogs back then. At one time i remember having like 23 dogs. Hell that was also 15 years ago.Now that seems like a lot, that im out of it. I just recently decided to get back into running beagles. I know then we bought just about all our dogs in Arkansas. My question is where can I find good dogs now. All of the beagle clubs around here have closed.
