just to remember guys who think Nadal is the best clay court ever , borg played with those rackets , I wanna see Nadal play with Bjorn Borg's racket , I would love to see !
I would like to see a game between Federer and Nadal with the racquets they used in the 1970's. Then people who weren't around in the 70s will see how different the game is with those racquets. You can't compare Borg to Nadal because of the massive difference in racquets.
This is not a great example of Borg's stroke play, more an example of his court coverage and how fast he gets to the ball.
@jembozzo That doesn't mean if he was at his prime today he wouldn't be better than Nadal. The whole idea is so subjective that you can't really know unless you had away to make Borg 20 again....
i dont know much bout tennis back in those days, but seems like what helped borg the most was his fitness and physicallity. which in those days wasnt as high priority as it is now. ppl these days have amazing stamina and court speed, which credits nadal even more for having soo much of a superior physicality
@angryniggah nowadays, that shot wouldn't have been a winner. players these days are so much better at anticipating and that down the line shot would have been the first one they'd cut off.
Nadal best claycourt ever alongside with Borg . Borg was more dominant when he won 1978 & 1980 without losing a set because he lost in 1978 only 32 games & 1980 38 games. Nadal in 2008 lost 41 games & in 2010 71 games. Borg had 10 6/0 score between these 2 years & Nadal had 3 6/0.
All of the arguments mean nothing if the players today are not using the crap rackets they used then. The players today seldom ever use touch. It's just a big power play over and over. The old school guys knew how to drop shot, pass, slice, placement......you just don't see a lot of it now.
"Besserwissers" around again! It´s a new Era! Of course Nadal is the hero of today, of course Borg has left the building! Why such crap; if the other would have met the other!? It will never happen! Get yourselves better to do, like playing tennis for real, in this world!
I don´t really see your point? You cannot possibly mean that Nadal "crushes" Federer on a regular basis, even if they meet on clay. The RG final 2008 was a meltdown but hardly the norm for their encounters.
Vilas was by the way a terrific claycourter, one of the greatest ever. Yet he was slaughtered by Borg, more than once.
"What speed in the 5th set too." For Borg that was never much of a problem. Most of the match his heart rate hovered at around 5o, while in the crucial fifth set it jumped to 55. While watching the French Open this year Vilas' heart rate appeared to be non-existent. Pulse, please, anyone?
Borg...I heard he was real fast..

Borg had won 6 French by age 25, Nadal 5. The stats don't lie Borg is the best clay player ever!

Nadal is the King of Clay

Nadal wouldn't stand a chance against Borg. Anyone who says Borg couldn't play in this era obviously doesn't know anything about tennis.

@jembozzo Yea but if he had started out in the modern era of tennis with modern equipment he probably wouldn't be that bad
hattrickster33 1 year ago
@hattrickster33 of course
but it's not only a matter of equipment
but technical, strength, quickness, etc...

It's important to note, though, that Nadal has dominated on clay (barring injury) in an era of baseliners.
