Liszt captures the gloomy, dark atmosphere of Faust's nightly ride in a state of agony very well...he is depicting the sound of birds and the sauntering of the horse, already anticipating the later Tone Poems of Sibelius... also the procession (starting at 6:23) is wonderfully expressed by the music.

@FrancisArief Liszt used this hymn because in this episode Faust, while riding through a dark forest (quite desperately) suddenly hears distant singing... he passes a religious procession.
I think it's one of Liszt's most beautiful orchestral pieces!
