thanx for the advice bro... i know i wanna do a science but not sure between chemistry and physics. I guess ill see way the dude with the afro has to say
I'm only 15 but I am doing math at a senior level. (I am a sophomore)
I have done a lot of research. Read books such as Hyperspace, Physics of the Impossible, and Einsteins Telescope. I really hope I can get a career in astrophysics
PLEASE ANSWER, I want to become an astrophysicist, but I didn't start off so good in math. Now that I am taking an interest in it and taking classes to help me regain knowledge. Do you think it's possible for me to become one?
hiii !! please can you tell me what's the academic path that one should have to work in a dome, or an observatory, like a researcher or an observator ? is it hard to find such a job ????
Maybe somebody can point me in the right direction my mind is non stopping I sleep 4 hour a night Ive looked into and have read many articles in CS. Astrophysic, EEng.infact im on my computer reading everything i find interesting to me its crazy but it fulfills part of where am I'm headed. I have a Dell XPS 625 AMD Phemom ll 2TB HD 4670 ATi graphics 16 GIG RAM. QUAD CORE intercooled. and games are just not my thing. Somebody tell me what or where do I start to go to my interest. Thanks Part 2
I am an extreme Empathic Psychic. I'm nearly photographic with all numbers my interests have been in computer science, Astrophysics, Electrical Engineering .I have 30 years as a corporate teacher and instructor of painting&autobody metal finish repair.Multitasking is an everday for me i become upset with others because they cant do it and its just like eating to me its a natural thing I do with my intelligence I'm bored in my field i just Took an I.Q. test it just seemed easy I score a 182
well this video has me thinking that i could be what i wanted to be, an astrophysicist. currently getting my 2yr degree in math, didn't take physics yet (since at my school theres only 1 course for it) and am going to take it, but for some reason i thought that it would be different than calc.
i just watched "How the universe works" and found back my first love...Physics.Unfortunately,because i was being to cocky,my parent decided to just gave up on me.I got good grade without much effort, and now i'm working in a semiconductor company for 160 bucks a month?Life's hard.....
Ability to follow your dreams is amazing and understanding astrophysics is amazing. What is more amazing is you' re acknowledging your shortcomings. You will go far and i wish the best for you.
I always wanted to get into the field of astrophysics or as an astronautical engineer (rocket scientist), but learning capacity and money needed for education can only take one so far.
Awesome and motivational story. I definitely agree with "do it bc its what you want to do", with that mindset you'll succeed at anything, because it'll always feel rewarding and leaving you wanting more.
-Undergrad heading down the same career path, hopefully!
I am hoping to study Computer Science with Astrophysics after the courses I am studying at the moment. I start my A-Level Math and Physics next year after my National Diploma in Software Development. The Universe has always been my number 1 interest of mine. :)
hi, i'm at gcse level and i really do want to go into a career in physics, probably astrophysics, and i am currently at a* grades in both physics and maths. i was just wondering, is it difficult finding a job in astrophysics, and what would be the salary at the peak of your career?
@ChRIs23696 Salary is not great, you shouldn't pick the way you're going to live the rest of your life on money. You will regret it later on. Choose something you would enjoy going to everyday.
I've been fascinated with space since I was 10; I'm at a university where I can do it, but I struggle so much with math. IDK if I should just push and struggle through with the math, or just pursue something else.
lol, i was interested in computer science too, but after i was too lazy to learn a programming language i gave it up and now i know that i want to be a scientist/millionaire :P
I see many people commenting here about his situation applying to them, and that really surprises me. I've recently been torn around Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomical studies. So really, I am in the same position! I guess only time will tell what I end up following through with.
hellooo I'm 15 and I'm really really good at Maths, but my passion is the universe, galaxies, stars, planets *_* I'm writing form Abania, and unfortunately here there's not a univerity course for astrophysics. I'm really thinking that after college I can go in USA or canada and study astrophysics, I don't know where but I feel that is the right thing!
wow what he just described seems to be happening to me. I cant decide what to do with my life. I have though about Astronautical engineering but i have always had an interest with stars and planets.
So, the earth was created, that's it, that's all you need to know. No need to study geology, geography, ecology, petroleum engineering or alternative energy sources, meteorology...uh huh...
Didn't sound like sarcasm to me. You were joking??
I thought you sounded like so many fundamentalists here in the southern USA who really believe what you typed. Where is the sarcasm? I've met people who would absolutely agree with the senseless things in your comment.
@svezda1 LOL, so what your saying is that the average intelligence of humans has dropped so dangerously low, that just acting stupid isn't enough to veil my sarcasm.
Calculus I and II, Vector Calculus, probably linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations, if you go into theoretical particle physics on the other hand, you need linear and abstract algebra, and partial differential equations, along with quantum of course
Lie algebra is also necessary for certain aspects of particle physics -- and by extension Representation Theory is also helpful. I had to do all of the previously mentioned (Calculus, Diff EQs, etc) and Lie algebra and Rep. Theory while I was studying for my doctorate in Astrophysics.
Yah, I'm in High School and when I tell people what I want to do, they say I'm crazy :D The funny thing is though, I can only do math well when I apply it to Physics. I'm in Trigonometry right now and I'm a bit horrible at it, but I'm also in Physics at the moment, and I'm fine when I do the required mathematics. It's also funny that I'm a natural in English/History, whereas I have to work harder in math/Science, and yet, I still have that call in my heart to pursue Astrophysics :D
1:00, he is pretty much bang on there. For the first while, I kind of enjoyed being thought of as being incredibly smart that I'm going into astrophysics, however now that I'm half way through my second year of undergrad, it's getting really annoying, and whenever somebody asks me what I'm in and I tell them astrophysics, I always anticipate the usual "omg that's insane" or 80% of the time "wow". It really is what you're good at. I'd probably be a horrible english major or accountant.
I love Astrology/astrophisics i just find it quite interesting and my mind and heart wants to know and learn more about it even if i got to do things i not always wanted i dont think science is for nerds i think science is just looking at things like a diff way i was never in to this but now i wanna die for this :D

I've the same problem. Started working in IT and soon realized that doing the same programming over and over isn't really satisfying. I've got to do new things every day, things that nobody else did before. Therefore I'm trying to get a research job (preferably at a university). You don't research the same thing twice. About time after I started my second study (finished a MSc in Compunter Sc, now doing Material Sc).

Choose a career because it is what you really want to do I think is good advice. Good video. (The lack of higher level positions for scientists can however really get you down.)
