My pony is a hunter but he doesn't really like it....He's only 8. Do you think he could try cutting? He just loves it when we do it with my friend! lol they go running on foot and me and Ryder keep one of them from the others! He's great at it! Ill upload a video sometime :)
I agree. I let my horse do the work and speed him up when they cow runs away.
Cutting is a whole lot of fun!
I just started my 2 year old on the basics and he is a NATURAl and LOVES it!!
He has no cutting or anything in his blood like it, his 'ancesters' were trail horses...i dont know where he got his athleticism and agilty, xD.
When i was 7, i first got on a cutter (my moms) and there happened to be cows over in the next arena, and he jumped the fence (it was only 3 feet) and chased them!
I ride English, lots of jumping and I wanna get into eventing. But cutting looks like a whole lotta fun!!! I would love to do that. English is great but you have to remember a lot about keeping your position. Seems like you could just let loose and have fun with this! :)
@shiiuza i agree with english being all about form and wat not, and its tonnes of fun, but you have to remeber that even something that looks as carefree and exciting as cutting is very difficult to stay in that saddle... position of the rider is HUGE, its realy hard to keep your balance and keep the horses balance if you are not in position... i realy think the only way you can truely 'let loose' is when you are not competeing and just havin fun with friends :-)
Is it just me or does it seem that nowadays cutters are more mechanical and do more jumpin and jiving then needed. It takes a little bit of their style away, you know what i mean? When I show my cutter I let him decide when to move and if hes late then i push him. If you catch them everytime telling them where to go they won't use their brain. But then again cutters come in different levels just like in any other disipline. These are some very nice horses on this video!
i agree most riders push try to ride the horse to much . ime personaly like it more when the horse works and the rider corrects and helps when neded cause isnt cutting about the cowsence and the teamwork between horse and rider !? but indeed everyone has his own style

I think they do more "jumping and jiving" as needed, but you have to admit the athleticism is amazing.

Great video, but think the music lyrics are a bad fit. They don't make any sense with the film. "Born in the USA" Would work much better.
