Awe cute little guys. I am getting ferrets soon and I am using a Martins R-695 which has the same cage dimensions as this cage and is just fine.

And why are so many people complain, that cage is the Prevue Feisty Ferret cage and is plenty adequate for 2-3 ferrets. Many people in the rat community have and enjoy this cage.

@z0mbieliever I agree, it's a pretty big cage. I don't think people understand that ferrets are supposed to be let out of their cages. I think cages are just used for times when you are out of the house or their is a lot of commotion going on, so the ferrets can be safe. Besides, I have never seen a ferret cage larger than this.

@qkliang Ferrets are very similar to cats in their dietary requirements because they are both obligate carnivores. Also like cats, ferrets sleep 15-20 hours a day and are quite intelligent. They use litter boxes but not nearly as diligently as cats. Most ferrets will have a fair few "accidents" on the carpet if there's not a litter box nearby when they need to go.

They're not very similar to rabbits at all. Rabbits are a prey item for ferrets. I would not recommend mixing the two.

@Bjarke899 Ferrets do have an odor but it can be controlled through good diet, keeping bedding and litter boxes clean, and minimal bathing. Excessive bathing causes an overproduction of the oils in the skin that cause odor. Bathe once a month max.

If you're considering a ferret, I would definitely recommend reading Ferrets for Dummies 2nd Edition. Excellent book that covers the basics of ferret care and can help you decide if ferrets are the right pet for you.

Actually the size of this cage is fine for 3 ferrets...I think that it just looks smaller because you were only filming the top half of it. So maybe thats why people think its too small. :)

@musefiction cages arnt for play, they are for sleeping, insted of bashing her just ask how long she had them out. mine are out 4-8 hours a day. they have a big cage but dont use more then about a square foot for hammock and food, i could keep them in a shoe box for all they care.

@musefiction Are you serious? You call this a small cage? This cage looks like it has three floors, and pretty good wide space for the ferrets, so its definitely not small. In fact, this cage is specialize for ferrets. Besides, Jacqueline7oX most likely don't keep them in the cage for too long, so the cage are usually use to put ferrets to sleep. Although, perhaps some people use it also to feed it or other reason, but as long as the ferrets are not too long in the cage, they are fine.

I have a ferretproof house so my fuzzy just runs around all day. I used to worry about electric cables a lot but she just ignores them. Still, I unplug stuff before I go out. She has a cage though, but it's mostly wide open so she walks in and out as she pleases, I only had to lock her up once since she learned how to go about the house (aka, kitchen and bathroom no allowed), and that's when a friend of a friend came in who hates ferrets (asshole).

Not really. The males can smell a little bad if they aren't fixed because they'll spray, but a fixed male ferret and female ferrets do not smell bad. Course, it does depend on the particular ferret and it also depends on your sense of smell. You may find ferret odor to be unappealing where others just smell ferrets as 'animal-y'. I think it helps when you grow up with a lot of animals. You're used to the musky scent. But don't say it's a fact that they stink, because it's really all preference.

Typically they do fine in pairs or more, but they're naturally solitary animals. You just have to let them out for more play time if you're going to have just one, since there's not another ferret to keep them busy and worn out.
