I LOVE YOUUU-3 Congratts Miss Iowa(: Even though Im from Wisconsin, I was cheering for you-3 Keep singing and dont let anyone tell you otherwise!!!(: You are my biggest role model and I hope that I can become like you someday(:
PS, GREAT JOB AT THE TALENT PORTION(: YOUR DRESS WAS STUNNING!!!!!!!!-3
You do have good tone, but you need to do some work. Look up the IPA (international phonetic alphabet) for each word, because your Italian diction could be better, also all r's must be flipped otherwise it ends up sounding very American! Also you have some spread vowels, open your mouth longer not wider for [e] and [i] vowels, but don't tense your jaw. Relax your jaw, but keep an engaged tongue, and don't try to control the sound from your throat, use your air and let the sound flow freely!
Please work on your vowels. You have an angelic voice...Maybe your should be singing something other than a mezzo soporano song...Lay off consanances and protect your vowels when singing Italian....You need to work on the fullness of you sound and tone:) Also....put more feeling into this piece...Maybe try German?? They sing with more v,z,r,l,and n's to the pieces so that you can learn placement to your vowels!!!! Keep Singing!!!
beautiful! just one comment...do you know what the words mean? Because you should put more emotion into it....it's about someone who is utterly in love...All the best! Also you're rushing the tempo a little in some parts...

@ElvinD15 Funny, I was hoping she is NOT a music major. She's too good to fall into that trap. There are simply no jobs, unless she wants to teach, and even then, there are precious few jobs. The music schools exist simply to line the pockets of the inner cult that keeps passing out degrees when there is simply no work in this field. I am qualified to say this. I have a MM from Juilliard, and have seen a lot. Almost all of my associates there have quit music as a "profession." We are "the 99%."
you have got an amazing voice...i like it, because you don't use the vibrato too often...it's wonderful and i feel like a field of flowers blown in the wind...i know, it doesn't fit to the song, but it feels like this!!!!
This is very beautiful! Being that it was written during the Romantic era I would say play around more with dynamics and tempos. Start at one tempo (preferably slower) at the beginning and then speed up a bit. Just make sure once you get back to the A section you return to the original speed. I did this song my senior year of high school but didn't have the high notes you do. I had to do it in a lower key! But very beautiful.
@kirstenvanterheyden TOTALLY WRONG. IT IS NOT TOO FAST. The original score is in cut-time, which is a compound meter, which means it's in 2, not 4. This girl, along with Juan Diego Florez, is one of the precious few to sing it as Gluck intended. She gets all the emotion required. It's supposed supposed to be a restless song with much forward motion, not a slow dark impassioned one. It can even go faster. Brava! Don't change a thing.
I was just about to post, "HOW COULD ANYONE POSSIBLY DISLIKE THIS?!?!" then I realized no one did. This is bloody brilliant. Your tone is perfect. o.o
Omigoodness you sing beautifully! And you're so pretty too! But really, you had great vowel shape and the perfect amount of vibrato. I was looking around for a good recording of this song because it's my solo competition piece and I found this, will definately come back for a reference every once in a while.
im singing this song for an upcoming singing competition, and i really like the way you've done it, ive heard several different versions. I'm an alto 2 in my high school choir but i believe my voice teacher chose the same key as your's do you have any pointers for hitting those high notes?
@chelseagrlmakeup Make sure you relax everything! you can't have any tension in your face at all! I am an alto as well and know those notes are hard to hit. Also, when you get that high don't worry a whole lot about the words. Just work on getting that sound out. Also, I have found it helps a lot to do a lot of warm ups that go higher than the highest note in your song.
incredible voice! im using this song for a governors school audition in January. I hope your college audition went well with this! it is an amazing song and you make it sound really great!

Only 17, and already this good!
Simply amazing.
Also, how refreshing that young singers appreciate the enduring classics, and not just the flavor of the month.
There is hope yet for humanity.
