I got E 74 too on my Xbox 360 all you have to do is turn it off then turn it back on

it worked perfectly when i did this

Usually, it takes up the entire screen.

# E74: AV cable error. Try a different cable and check the connections. Another possibility could be the power supply. If the adapter is probably defective fiept softly, and the Xbox 360 gets too little electricity (thanks to Max for pointing!).

To you retards that haven't had the E 74: It's not a hard drive problem, it's the video output chip that sends the image to your tv. Unplug your HDMI or the 6 wire thing, whichever you use, and the xbox starts up, controllers connect everything is fine until you plug it back onto the tv. Once plugged back in it crashes and gives you the black screen with more or less 15 languages and the big E 74.

The E-74 means your having a hard drive error. try unplugging the hard drive and playing again.

If Harddrive is faulty, call microsoft, and have them replace or fix it. you can still play without it for now just cant save anything

Did you have the hard drive in properly? Cuz when i got mine on my birthday i did not know how to properly put in the 120GB HDD and it came up with 1 red light. Then when i put it in properly it worked fine. But then again it was like 5 minutes fresh out of the box lol.

First call xbox support and talk to the representative.first he will verify some info from you(i.e. adress,phone,serial #,name etc.)then he will ask you what seems to be the problem.tell him this "while i was playing a game there was fine redlines on my screen an few minutes later it showed a system error on multiple language and says a big E74 on my screen and also one redlight on my 360 is flashing".After this he will verify the problem then let you know of it is cover under your 1 yr warra

You get a three year warranty for the 3 lights, and a 1 year warranty for anything else
