I was, like, 4-7 when I saw this, & that old memory prompted me 2 c this on YouTube. I didn't know who Bruce Jenner was. & shoot, I wish this clip was longer because I still don't remember how the trick ended when Ann Jilian reappeared.
This was back when magic was appreciated and still respected as a performing art. Today it seems to be the thing to do to expose magic's secret methods on YouTube and other sites online. All magic is illusion. Any idiot should know that. Magic is intended to be believed real. It is for entertainment only. Just sit back and enjoy magic. Once the secret is learned, the magic is lost forever.
I agree, hairmagic. You are 100% correct. I don't know why you got a negative rateing on this comment. What we need to do is stop these people from revealing secrets by deleteing those comments that reveal, flagging them or whatever it takes. We need to bring the art status back. Thats what magic is- AN ART. Maybe someone will start a internet organization to hunt down revealers and take legal action or whatever...
To be fair, Shaman, there are a a fair amount who use the online reveals/tutorials as a way to learn the tricks. I know I've gotten a few tricks from the internet. And you certainly wouldn't begrudge young magicians the 'Learn magic' books they can get at the local library would you?
Respectfully, I dissagree. The general public stumbles onto a video oline that reveals effects way more often than walking by a magic book in the library. Also, the books in the library are usually quite old and have gotten their value. They also teach basic general magic. When someone reveals effects online and they are' nt theirs, not ony is it wrong, it hurts the magician who invented it. Especially financially. It also takes the mystery out of magic for a layman who stumbles onto it..
Perhaps. But you can still enjoy magic for the skill that is required to perform the feat. For instance, my personal affinity is for card tricks, and it's amazing to watch performers doing them and I was even more amazed at some of the ways they do things. The sleight of hand illusions were amazing. especially when performed well.
I TOTALLY remember this, it was shown in the '80s too. Being 5 or 6 at the time, this got me upset because I was actually a fan of Jennifer Slept Here, which was running at the time this was aired when I saw it. (I was also rooting for AJ to use her "powers" from that show to escape ;-))
