  • @mzmel4308 True....but Chico wasn't in the group, he was too young. It is Randy and Mark that's in the group along with the other three. James entered the group at the age of 17 and Chico is younger than him.

  • Yum.

  • Love this song, I can remember my mom and dad playing it.

  • @bigkatt The other brother is Tommy....Tommy Debarge.

  • @backintheday80

Bobby, Tommy, El, Bunny, James and Chico DeBarge. Bobby and Tommy were with the group Switch and then the youger ones came out as the group DeBarge. El and Chico are still solo today.

  • Al Debarge also sung with Switch.

  • I'm 30. When I was a kid, my mom would put me next to the record player with songs like this and I would just sit there and that allowed her to cook, clean, she could even cut the grass. I just danced my way out the car seat. You can't do that to music made today!!! PERIOD!!!

  • Crazy how much the Debarge's sound alike!!!! GREAT music....

  • @itsumbre Thats because the lead singer is Bobby Debarge, the older brother. There is another brother also. I can't remember his name.

  • @bigkatt1 yes...that's why I said the Debarge's sound alike...lol

  • I love this group! There just aren't groups like this anymore.

  • this is when music was music!!!! maybe those times will come back one day

  • @rockport1109 SHIT THEM TIMES WILL NEVER COME BACK EVERTHING IN THE SONGS TODAY IS BITCH THIS AND BITCH THAT, IT'S A DISGRACE AND SENSELESS. I MISS THE OLD DAYS AS WELL, THE HOUSE PARTIES AND SKATING RING, WHAT HAPPEN TO THOSE DAYS. DAM YOUNSTERS MESS UP A GOOD DREAM LMAO

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! I wish music was so well done like this now.

  • classic late 70's early 80's groove.

  • I'm jamming right now.

  • there will never be a better song!!!

  • Songs like this aren't just written, they're constructed. The blue print was laid out and then the building began It took a genius to think of something like this. This is a song to be proud of! I was definitely born at the wrong time, and although I have youtube and the internet which makes it easy to find good music, I still feel robbed of not being able to experience music when it was in its truest art form

  • Technology has made people cold and distant. Today's music is a reflection of that.

  • i was definitely born at the wrong time..

almost every song these days is trash that lasts a month and then everyone forgets about it.

but what, 33 years later and this song still has people thinking about the great times they had dancing to it when it first came out?

    beautiful.

  • love this song!!

  • There will never a better another song like this one of a kind.

  • i can remember being a youngster having a crush on one of my co-workers at my very first job at macdonalds and i thought he was so sexxy......what u know at 15!!!! the years have flown by,now i am a grown women and the feelings are still there even after all these years,,,,it is amazing what music will do...every song will have a place in your heart....

  • THIS IS A CLASSIC RIGHT HERE!! I LOVE THIS KINDA MUSIC EVEN THOE IM SO YOUNG ... GOTTA LOVE IT!!

  • This is soothing to my ears. That bass guitar is swinging.

  • There'll Never Be times and songs like this!

  • @markknize...Ain't that the truth. Today's music just don't measure up...this music will have you thinking about the shit you did back in the days...have you crying again over the girl that broke heart back in the 6th grade...Laughing.

  • @TheFallinOfficer971 haha preach!!

  • I can't get enough of this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was music back when I was coming up. They don't

    sing music like this anymore>

  • @cgb47 Rite!!!!

  • @cgb47 No they don't Im 30 and i wasn't born when these songs first came out but they were playing these songs strongly on the radio so I remember even though I was a kid. I would love a man to sing to me like this as I have already had my high school sweetheart sing to me because he wrote his own music!!! Music has lost the whole feeling. These artists did more than write and play the instruments to make the songs they had real feeling and soul!!!

  • @cgb47 Hey, I love oldies, but theres still good music today......you just have to know where and who to look for!!! Try not to be stuck in an era and find some more good music thats around today!!!

  • @prtyboi22 The music today is just not that good; I do not think it is a matter of being stuck in an era, instead it is about raw genuine talent on a very large scale unlike today. There is a lot of equipment that can make anyone sound like they can sing. Back in the day what you heard is what you got and it was raw and real.

  • i rememberbeing young and stationed at ft knox, ky when this came out. memories

  • My sister's boyfriend was in a band back when we were in HS. They sung this in the senior talent show. He dedicated the song to her and then hit all those falsetto notes in perfect pitch. The women in the audience screamed like they lost their minds. They won (of course).

  • what kind of bs are you people on music never dies if you look past beyonce you will find black people who make good music that's just ignorant to say modern music expands further than chris brown and rhianna

  • @93Musicluva Exactly! If anything, if all you notice is the bullshit, that's what you deserve.

  • us black!!!!

  • I agree!!

  • @jdubbjazzbass; it's still out there. You have to look harder because the music industry is still making money off of our lowest common denominator.

  • OMG ii lovee thiis sonqq iit's dha Jamm..!

  • HOW DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS???

  • 49 dislikes??? wow..wth..How does anyone not like a song with crazy vocal harmony and style and good lyrics!!

  • This music will never get out dated simply because it's real music no matter who you are of what race this is music we can all relate to and it's real mmmuussiiiicccc....ShakainPlanotx

  • Reminds me of growing up...I may not have known what it meant, but this song was apart of my childhood. I understand now. But too bad they don't sing this type of music now. Makes you wish you were born sooner.

  • one of my favorite when i was growing up

  • I hated this song when I first heard it back in the day! But time and life experiences taught me how to embrace and appreciate what I once rejected!

  • The day will come when brothers will sing of love again without it being perceived as being soft.

  • Greatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • if maurice white was singing lead, i'd definitely be confused. i had to go make sure bobby wrote it...

  • wish if there was still music like this

  • @1strbttrfly there is...you just have to look hard

  • R.I.P. bobby debarge, now we know where el got his talent from/luv the debarge, if bobby was still alive, i would have hoped that him/el could have given us more great music, 2gether those two could have been so big, but we know the story all to well, say no to drugs, but their voices will live on forever, such great talent,

  • Jamming right now

  • Got that rare groove, two step ting going on! School days music. Think I as about 14 when this hit. I'm sure someone bought it back on an import 7" for me back then.Quality

  • Pure Memories :)

  • I love this song. It takes me back to elementary school. Everyone in class would try and sing in a high falsetto voice. We sounded horrible, but we had fun trying to imitate El DeBarge.

  • @miblej0 This is Bobby Debarge El's older brother who passed in the 1990s

  • @miblej0 thats not El Dabarge!

  • @MrPark64 thanks for correcting me. :)

  • @MrPark64 No it's not but Bobby Debarge was in this group, El's big bro. I don't know if you've ever had the chance to catch Unsung on BET's Centric but if you do, check it out. They profiled Debarge and they're always worth watching.

  • @MrPark64 BTW, I'm sure you already knew that but def check out Unsung. That goes to everyone. They've profiled Minnie Ripperton, The Barkays, Teena Marie, Donnie Hathaway and many others. A new season kicks off January 2nd on Centric.

  • @MillicentDionne

do you need digital for that?

  • @jrzj I think you can have basic cable or satellite. I have Directv.

  • @jrzj You might want to Youtube Unsung because I'm sure someone has uploaded some episodes here. Everything under the sun is on Youtube.

  • @MillicentDionne Yeah I just caught the ones they did on Big Daddy Kane and Mikki Howard. They both were pretty good.

  • @VettetheVixen I haven't seen BDK's but I've seen Mikki's. BDK was my bro's fave rapper. I'm going to look out for his. They're doing a marathon tomorrow so I'm going to check for the ones I haven't seen.
