Awesome song and video, Ted! I can't count the bands/singers that I first heard at City lights. I remember one of the first times I was there. I was talking to Ken about the Ramones. He asked me what my favorite album by them was. I said "Too Tough To Die." He said, "Oh, you're one of THEM." I went from being all smug and feeling like I was one of the cool kids to realizing I didn't know shit. I will always treasure that snide remark:)
Kudos to Ted and to Greg and if you are in Silver Spring MD check out my brother's independent record store, Joe's Record Paradise, 8216 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 (they just relocated).
Grew up in State College and worked @ City Lights from '86-'88, in its earliest heyday; will remember those days for all my life. Greg became and remains one of my closest friends. A great man and a true original. We threw him a 20th anniversary bash in 2006, and I only wish we'd had this song to play then. Thanks, Ted!
Yeah! Well done! Got all choked up...City Lights was my jam in the S.C. ...got me through college, grad school, life as we know it....love this, thank you!!!
I remember seeing Ted back @ PSU from 99-03....such an amazing talent. All the nights at the Phryst with Maxwell Strait.... Greg is the greatest, although I wish Ken was still there. City Lights forever!
This is a nice tribute to Greg and his legacy! Things aren't the same without the different record stores in town...but I'm glad his is still around, since I always felt like I was being judged in Arboria...YES I LOVE ROBERT PALMER.
How are you? It's been a long time. Well done on the song and video. You couldn't have picked a better location. Here's to Greg Gabbard. Hope that all is well, fine, and good your way. Give a call if you're ever in DC.
Ted deserves a place in the rock-n-roll hall of fame for writing this! Any song that names Ronnie Lane is OK with me. Cool video, City Lights, hope you're still standing.
I saw Ted a few weeks ago at the State Theater in State College, PA and he burnt the house down. How can a guy this good not be on the late night shows like Connan,Leno, etc. Please, give us some Ted.
2 other bands in State College to watch The Rustlanders and the Nightcrawlers...good stuff just waiting to be discovered.

Greg said I'd get a tear in my eye. And I did. You got me through grad school with your musical suggestions, Greg. Many thanks!

Al Gore globe trots about global warming. Ted sings about the extinction of the local record store. My Nobel vote goes to.....Ted.
