Fine, fresh interpretation of the Goldberg with a lovely improvisational quality. Saw her play the Beethoven 5th PC at NJPAC and a sublime 2nd mvt. See her perform if you can.
I just love the way she tries to explain this wonderful music, especially when she compares the experience of listening to Bach's music to the experience of watching the mysterious starry night. This is my experience with Bach's music in a nutshell.
Simone, I was so glad to see some of your performances on YouTube..... your performances in Monroe, LA are still some of the best that our church has had... Thank you.
She's really good but I still like Glenn Gould best. His sound is less romantica like her but more crips and to the point. Neverless she is as good as Tureck.
Dinnerstein's interpretations of some of the variations are a little too rubato for me. I really appreciated Glenn Gould's rhythmic exactitude and this seems to be a bit of a departure.
How rarely one hears this kind of playing! Dinnerstein describes it - the breathing, the space between notes. When she plays, it's as if time is suspended. THAT's music.
I have a deepest respect for the art of Simone Dinnerstein on this Goldberg recording. This flows so naturally, I mean one feels how much she's loving this music, to the point she's literally returning life back to the notes.
Quite a nice interpretation by a fine pianist although I don't know if I would play the melodic notes slightly offset from thebass like she does. This style doesn't really fit Bach. Anyone who can memorize this entire piece deserves a lot of credit.
I think she is one of the best of our times!! She is really passionate with strange beauty!!

I have this CD. I think her playing the Goldberg Variations is unique and quite a refreshing interpertation.

Lol Work in progress. Well. It turned out just fine, I'd say. Any chance of seeing footage of her playing variation 13?
