  • 6:36 sounds very familiar, does anyone know what is it?

  • God, this is Beautiful n' Groovy..

  • Beautiful !

    Thanks

  • I WAS LISTENING TO THIS WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE AND THEN 8:21 HAPPENED

  • The ending of this video is downright OFFENSIVE!!

  • un génie de la corde à bass^^

  • There was only one Jaco, man! I saw him with Weather Report at the Capitol Theater in NYC His tragic death was such a loss, not only to the jazz world, not only to the music world but to humanity and civilization itself.I love this video, and i want to thank whoever posted it and made it available to us who can't get enough of Jaco's music!

  • 5:28 Men!, I love that groove..

  • Mercy Mercy Mercy Obrigada!

  • THE LEGEND OF BASS!

  • A rift in space time opens at 5:43

  • buu 1:06 is so deep, goosebumpstime

  • Fucking disgraceful recording job, but still a great rendition of the track.

  • the worst part is 8:21

  • It´s like listening to a lady gaga song and then... god interviens

  • 3:22 classic of Jaco.

  • That bass speaks!!!

  • Something stupendous, the bass' tone......and other, of course.....

  • Nice track with Joe Zawinuls tune, which he made it to the top of the Billboard list in 1966! Does anyone know who the other musicians are?

  • @storsanden Probably Peter Ersken on drums (pardon the spelling if its wrong)

  • Comment removed

  • @storsanden

Brian Melvin on drums and Jon Davis on keyboards.

  • @Musicenthusiasm Thanks!!!

  • @storsanden

    Bare hyggelig.

  • Damn! I wish he'd been around longer to make more music.

  • i've the same version without coda :(

  • wow holy moly

  • sweet.

  • WOW! but a coitus interruptus! - CODA ?! ;)

  • jaco..

  • i love the nwa quote at 1:12

  • @Upow

LOL. He didn't quote nwa. This was recorded several years before anyone even knew who nwa were. I'm afraid you were just hearing one of Jaco's own licks...

  • u know who else is playing on the track?

  • the two people who disliked this must be deaf....

  • i didnt knew that there were a version of mercy with jaco!!! awesome!

  • unico, fantastico inimitabile

  • what happend to the end?

  • Take your master pluckers, artistic weavers,TASTEFUL studio cats, et al, AND Jaco puts it all together, right here ,in a one song Package: Mercy Jaco ,Respect and miss your Talent ....

  • Masterpiece from the Master!!!!!

  • That man's fingers are worth a billion dollars. too bad he isn't around anymore. ((((

  • So terrific! What a great recording! I know I'm gonna get blasted for this--however, the only thing I wish is that his bass sound was a bit better in this recording. You can still tell how fat and rich it is, and how effortlessly he manipulates the sound through his playing, but not quite as clear as I'd like and a bit distorted via Youtube maybe.

  • @mooredonaldg I think Jaco actually used a little distortion as part of his sound ... check his solo" SLANG" as a good example...

  • Such a wonderful piece of a great composition.

  • 5.30 - 6.10 such a perfect groove :)

  • 5.30 - 6.10 such a perfect goove :)

  • No way this is.. What a fucking treasure!

  • Hey does anyone know from what album this song is

  • Comment removed

  • @rtjwo93 where can I get some?

  • @rtjwo93

I was aware and it makes no difference to me. I too have been at rock bottom.

  • is there another bassist or is he using some kind of loop pedal?

  • @obassmanc There's definitely something else bass-wise going on in parts. Notably around 4:10. I think it's just the keyboard player though.

  • @obassmanc i think he's layering himself, man

  • Love the crowd reaction to Jaco's licks, especially when he begins to cook around the 5 minute mark.

  • Jaco's last known recording recorded in Marin. Makes the previous Deadhead comment tragically ironic'

  • Great stuff!

  • Turn on your loooove light! Jaco may have been a closet Dead Head.

  • jaco....the best.

  • When he played that lick around 2:33 I just spontaneously laughed with joy

  • @PZatez ya hear ya the people in the background that felt that lick

  • @PZatez YES INDEED!

  • Is this really Jaco?? With who??

  • @nobmarley806

Brian Melvin on drums, Jon Davis on keys. The album is called Curtain Call check it out on allmusicguide for more details.

  • @gummybear100 Thank you so much.!

  • @nobmarley806 Man, you can't mistake! This is the sound of Jaco's mind and fingers. In the eighties all bassists in the world started pulling out the frets from their instruments to no use! The sound stands into the mind and fingers. That's why you can't mistake Jaco with no one else!

  • @frontmann7 You're right!That's my mistake..

  • i <3 jaco

  • Wonderful....a new sound to my ears..

  • awesome thanks you tube iv stumbled on another song that i probably never would of found anybody any other ones i should watch of any under the radar type songs

  • fucking legend. doesnt get better. LEGENDARY.

  • Jaco rules. He still does. This rendition is solid.

  • Some of the sweetest groove I've ever felt. Thanks for this.

  • I can't like 10 times.... Dang.

  • o melhor!

  • the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Down in the treme with me and my baby!

  • sounds like a fretted bass to me. is it his jazz with the precision neck?

    what a great track thankyou.

  • "WOAH" 0:54 <3

  • fuckin amazing...that groove is awesome

  • @AceInTheWhole94 Stop Saying Fuck

  • @dlechler1 hey dude, fuck you man..last thing i need is some dude i dunno to tell me how speak..came here to enjoy the great music

  • fuck. yeah.

  • @vvrankulj Stop with the "F" bomb you fucking fuck

  • A real toe tapper!

  • jaco pastorius, podran imitarte pero igualarte jamas

  • i bleeve this is from one of the "Live in NYC" discs volume 1,2 or 3 i think

  • @DangerBird

It's from the album "Curtain Call".

  • Jaco signature fill at 1:54-1:58 :)

  • @SalvationHasCome I know what you mean, you could insert that in The Chicken anywhere :P

  • Anybody know the proper name of this album? I seem to remember one called "Curtain Call" right near the end of Jaco's life, but I'm not sure.

  • i love this fucking bass tone it;s so jazzy!

  • During his solo it sounded like there was another bass player slapping behind him.

  • @pchelpdave

I think it was his keyboard player. It sounded to 'synthetic' and cheesy to be a real bassist.

  • @WeCamefortheDead

Seems that I'm wrong. it isn't a keyboard player...I'ts just another bassist. After the solo, you can hear the second bassist in the backround.

  • @WeCamefortheDead delmar brown....zhe very last sessions in NYC...mid 80´s

  • @WeCamefortheDead

    It's not another bassist...

It's the keyboard-player. This was a trio-gig with bass, keyboard and drums.

  • What album is this?

  • yea nice clear recording thanks what a voice he pulled out of the bass

  • Take me to Church Jaco! Yea!!!

  • @MattieSongbird Ya,at 5.29 on We go ...

  • man he lays it out and keeps it there doesn't he? There may be another bassist that can play the notes, but nobody and I mean NOBODY can channel in the groove like Jaco. Incredible

  • @bigbadbeethoven Jaco was my best friend in elementary school, and I was in his first band (1964). He would have LOVED to hear your comment, as 'groove' was crucial to him both in the music he made and the music he listened to. I say thank you for him.,

  • @Zeppolino100 That's awesome.

  • @bigbadbeethoven

    I agree completely.

  • 1:11 Is the same sample as NWA used in express yourself!

  • i think NWA used same sampel as Jaco did... ;)

  • PRICELESS.nice clear recording,thanx

  • @diagreen long live jaco. :)

  • @jikyonly not really he kinda died when he was 35... D:

  • Pasto, c'est la classe vraiment le meilleur a la basse un putain de bassiste !...

  • Man, what a groove.

  • @boxfordbassist ; a groove as fat as the grand canyon!

  • great bass work by an unforgettable legend. 2:34 is spectacular

  • è pazzesco... non normale!!

  • gee!, melody, rythm, chords,soloing

this guy took the first step and we thank him!

  • What an incredible surprise...surreal recording....very well done...excellent quality

  • It's Jaco up in San Francisco on Halloween night.

He did a studio version of this song with Bob Weir form the Grateful Dead, were Bob sang the song. It's awesome. Of course, everything Jaco did was awesome, even when he was sick.

  • Jaco, c'est tres bon comme toujours !...

  • From the album "Curtain Call" 1986c. Jon Davis:keys,Brian Melvin:drums,Jaco Pastorius;bass

  • He isn't Jaco!

  • yes it's jaco !

  • Are you kidding? This is so Jaco. The phrasing and choice of notes alone screams JACO!

  • Thats Jaco, he's playing his fretted bass.

  • mh yeah it's Jaco! Sorry

  • MDR

  • who is jaco playing with? does anyone know??

  • Jon davis Piano, and brian melvin drums i think...
