Omg that is overkill dude, all I used was 2 ratchet tie downs on the handle bars and 2 elastic straps wrapped around my passenger footpegs. 160mile trip with speeds up to 70mph in perfect condition.
I just use two 10,000lb. ratchet straps. 1 in the front and 1 in the rear. No problem and bike will not move. I know it sounds like overkill for a 500lb bike but it is worth the piece of mind and no worries.
Two straps: pulling front down and secure against the front of the trailer are sufficient. Tighten straps leaving some play in front shocks but such that front shocks are compressed.
That is a lot of straps... 4 is plenty. I used to haul my dirt bike in the back of my S-10 and only used two straps, hooked on each side of the handlebars by the brackets that hold the bars on. Cinch em down till you compress the forks and it's going nowhere. I used to use those cam straps instead of the ratcheting ones, they were less fiddly.
This took a total idiot to do this....3 straps at the most and it wouldn't go anywhere

zero about loading. only about securing.

8 or 9 straps??? I can respect the "better safe than sorry" thinking but you only need 2 or 3.

You also need to put a net over everything and tie it in 6 places and make sure the net does not have any holes in it.

@eugene831 I think this is a Canadian Ninja 250. I said the same thing you said when I first had mine in 2007.

Enough all you haters... it's just a guide, if you want less, use less. The metal traler was wet and slick as hell. It got home undamaged.

That looks ridiculous. Why would you use all of those straps. If you know what you are doing 3 is all....4 at most.

I dont have enough tie down spots on my bike for all those straps, and if i used that many straps the trailer would be overweight!!!!
