    "That Song!!!"

    I love this song. XD

  • Which song???

  • That Song!

  • I caught the cut out parts, too. Unfornately, us folks in the US missed out on these guys. I still play this cd 11 years later.

  • They reall need to get back together, cause Thornley's really starting to suck...a lot.

  • yep he sounds like and looks like cris cornell-huge compliment --what a great song --but what have you done for us over the last year--too much fucking talent to sit by and be idle!!!

  • yeah definatly cornell there song inhale he sounds exactly like him to me

  • i understand what you're saying, but sometimes building a masterpiece(even if you think it sucks) can take quite a toll on one's whole.

  • they cut out parts from this song anyone else notice that

and he does kind of sound and look a bit like cornell

  • i noticed the cut out parts of the song haha

  • i noticed it hahah

  • this dude somehow manages to play the sound track to my life at that time 1997 wow ian

  • my aunt is neighbours with the guitarist, and we've hung out lots of times. he competes in our family's annual volleyball tournament. he doesnt really talk to anyone unless you talk to him, but he's nice enough.

  • the greatest song ever recorded!!! you cut out part of the song!!! :(

  • Love Love Love Love Love

    <3 <3 <3

  • i love that song

  • hey im 14 but i like it

i do agree kinda reminds me of him

  • They were formed in Boston, The lead Singer Ian Thornley is from Toronto, Canada he is now in his own band called Thornleys

  • there from boston but made there music in toronto

  • Cornell ?

ya just kind of a record label monkeys over beatles shit maybe , not saying it's good but... figure it out...nah it's just the same genre of tunes i guess....

  • You wouldn't believe my luck! I was obsessed with this song when it came out and I often had the tune in my head since this time. I looked it up on you tube and thanks to you I can now listen to it! But thats not the only excitang thang my sister has it in her cd collection on her computer..hurrah!

  • Chris Cornell?

  • what? where?

  • looks and sounds like him!lol.a-mazing!

  • No, his name is Ian Thornley.

  • im 16 and it still rocks

  • awesome song i love it !! im 30 yrs old and male it rocks yo

  • wow this brings back memories haha

  • Not only is this a great song..I love the back drop they used...Kool video!

  • looks like the guy from Thornley

  • correct! Ian Thornley it is

  • i was talking to my gf i was like.......whats the name of that song? lol

  • I so wish they were back together, I'd much rather listen to them than the millions of clone-bands out there! Ian Thornley's voice is awesome!

  • Canada Rocks!! i agree he is pretty cool

    peace

  • check out the band thornley! they're going on tour finally with a new album.. same lead singer.. fist album was called come again

  • cool! thanks for letting me know about Thornley!

  • i heard this song on the radio today and i just had to look it up.

it's awesome!!! good music is hard to find...

  • what's kind of weird is that I like a song called 'that song' lol

  • Yea these guys opened for Dream Theater at the webster theater in Hartford,They were really good.

  • Sounds good. I think it would play today...

  • I might be out of the loop but I thought once Big Wreck split he went on his own just as "Thornley" Is that done as well?

  • yep

  • Is it me,or is this sound very reminiscent of early Van Halen. Just listen to the song without watching the vid.....I can hear David Lee Roth on vocals with Eddie Van Halen playin the riffs. Sounds very familiar. Great Sound Guys!!

  • great post, one of my favourite tunes

  • awsome tune. to bad his stupid ass band threw him out to the dogs. now hopefully he'll find some new band to jam with,.." and come again". lol

now that would be totaly cool and send them assholes a message. dont fuck with thornley. hehe.

  • I really love THIS song!

  • sick riff they have in this song, only 1 sick riff tho :P

  • This song is just unbeliverble. I herd it on the radio and didn't know who Big Wreck was. I spent an an entire week searching the net for it and no lock since I was keying in the wrong title and finally I just phone the radio station to get the right title. Now I own my copy and I just keep listening to that heavy metal element in that really cool song.

  • no, um, not that one, the other one. hmmmtalgic yet.

  • Liked the song and I had the CD at some point.

But rhyming DUMB with ROOM always jarred me.

  • This is some good nostalgic stuff!

  • sometimes you forget how good the music was and why it didnt catch on to more.. i think it was wrong timing, pop music was more in during this time

  • a great song reminds me of northern canada driving to rep basketball games while i was young with my bro's.very nastalgic

  • I really love That Song...

    ;)

  • i like the beat in the chorus

  • this song brings me back (or should I say That Song? LOLz)

  • THIS SONG IS FREAKING AWSOME!

  • Man, that really sounded like it came straight from the heart. Gotta admit, after all these years, still sounding fresh... must be that timeless quality.

  • The only reason why this band was so underrated was because they are from Canada

  • The band was from Boston, Ian is the only Canadian. They were bigger in Canada then America but I don't label them Canadian because they came out of Boston.

  • thats why Thornley is so much better, cuz... HE....IS....CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!

  • Very good song!!!Love it

  • Wow. Seriously lacking in quality..

  • BEST FUCKING SONG EVER! PERIOD(spelled out, which means-I mean it!) Most underated band of all time. Brian Doherty is one of the coolest guys I ever met. We miss you guys! Awesome talent!

  • this song doesn't sound like a 90's song at all! i swore this was made 2004 or later! it has a very "ahead of its time" sound to it! i love it!

  • thank god for Youtube reviving my memories of the tremendous talent from bands in the 90's!

I miss songs like this, and bands like this!

  • OMFG, I LOVE THAT (this) SONG!!!

  • thanx for uploading this video.i missed the 90's rock scene.its my most favrite big wreck song."i really love that song"........

  • i dont mean to offend any of you guys but i personally didnt really like this band or the music and style of that time at all.but this really was a GREAT song.wonderful thoughtful lyrics and a really nice sparkly guitar riff.what was it 97/98,i was working at a pizza place and the dishwasher always had the modern rock station playing.and i remeber every day i would just stand there all day thinking god i hope they play that song, not even knowing that was the actual title at the time :)

  • God dammit this song is brilliant on so many levels I can't even put it into words. Its funny cause he describing how I feel about this song itself, if that makes any sense... Anyways the entire album is a masterpiece and its a shame that it did not get the recognition that it deserves (even within Canada).

  • Man, single edits suck. Killed a minute of the album version! That's one less minute of awesome Big Wreck-ness.

  • lol i agree why are they cutting out segments of Big Wreck i cant live without it and if it doesnt have the whole version then its that much worse. but when its all together its amazing..

  • WHO THE HELL THUMB-DOWNED ME!? I was insulting the music industry, not Big Wreck! I love Big Wreck!

  • I fix :p

  • Wow, lovin the memories floodin' back when I listen to this song. Miss those times, miss this band :)

  • They were a Boston based Band. Only Ian is Canadian. Everybody else in the Band was from Massachusetts.

  • Ian is indeed the only Canadian. Brian (guitar) was born in Ohio and grew up in New York. Dave (bass) is from a Southern state. I'm not sure which one. Forrest (drums) is from New York. They all met in Boston at the Berkley school of music.

  • Easily one of the most underrated albums ever made. Big Wreck should have been huge. Ian Thornley is a tremendous talent and his 2004 release Come Again is one of the best albums of the decade.

  • Agreed, This band is way underrated

  • Hell yeah, great song

  • OH MY FUCKIN GOD! This brings me back!!! Beutiful song!!! :)

  • in my family my brother and I would have a song and this was mine :] its a great legend.

  • I've been looking for this video forever! Thanks for putting it up. :)

  • Best Canadian band!!!

  • I hear the bassplayer also played chapman stick for the band at times.....now THAT is an instrument!!!!!

  • Wicked song, not to mention the singer is a babe :P

    Thank you for posting.

  • amazing tune, best band to ever come out of Canada!

  • ahhh I wouldn't go that far.

The Guess Who are definitely a top contender for that spot.

  • umm, Rush.

  • omg this song kicks ass!

  • Has there ever been a band this good that was as poorly marketed by thier label as Big Wreck? They were GREAT live as well. I wish they'd kept going...

  • Most underrated band of the late 90's. Boy bands killed their career. Should have kept it going Ian. Of course I like some of his stuff as well.

  • Nailed it.

  • I have never heard a better band in the late 90's than this one. I agree that this band should rerelease its first album because they would own the charts with the sound they have. The Oaf, Blown Wide Open....my God they rock!

  • Pity this album came out during the time of Curt Cobain and self loathing 90's period of music. That's when record companies thought "well if one Nirvanna is good, 100 more like them are better".Then flooded radio stations with only that type of music.Ignoring everything else that came out musically, including this album. So many great albums released are almost forgotten. We are merely 'sheep' to them when choosing what they should promote. Ever notice how everyone sounds like Nickelback now?

  • If you released this album now it would be a hit.

  • if i ever get a chance to meet ian thornley i'd ask him " what is a pocketbook brando"?

cuz i sure as hell don't know what it is...

  • Pocketbook or textbook Brando is Ian referring to acting like Marlon Brando. If you look at this verse carefully you'll understand it.

We just drove past your old house and you weren't there

And I'm抦 always great when I'm抦 hangin with your buds and they lie

They think that I'm抦 just fine

    It's always been that way

    Just a "Pocketbook Brando"

  • ok. i understand it now thanx for the reply appreciate it...

  • Big Shiny Tunes..:)...this song takes me back to grade 10-11..I have always LOVED this tune!! And Blown Wide Open...and The Oaf!!!

  • but dont get me wrong the song is awesome too

  • why would he try lookin like cornell anyway cornell is more awesome lookin

  • He looks like Cornell and sounds like him in "Inhale".

But Soundgarden and this band are really different from each other.

This guy has a really good voice though.

  • oh, yeah!!!

  • he doesn't look anything like cornell, nor does he try - he doesn't have to!!

  • i think ill sync this video up to better audio and upload it

  • If you could, that would be great!

  • It's up!

  • so, i'm covering this song on piano. the syntax in this song is actually really hard. awsome lyrics.

  • can't wait for thornley's new album due out soon in 2008!!! Can't wait to love that song...

  • If he wanted to look like Chris Cornell, then he'd suck 5 dicks in a row..

he doesn't try to look like Cornell at all..

  • he doesn't try to look lke cornell, he was born that way.

  • i love that song

  • 3:05, whats with that gnarly rythmn?

  • sounds like an editing mistake when they shorted the song to be playable on mtv. the full song is rather long.

  • yeah i think it's actually better when they play the whole thing...

  • Many thanks to Canada for sharing some real music with the world. I'm non-Canuck but close enough to appreciate and support whatever good music comes out of the country (IME were great, too), and there were no problems whatsoever with getting myself and my pals hooked on Big Wreck.

  • Although they were based in Canada, the band is actually 75% American. They all met at Berklee U. in Boston. Ian is the only Canadian in the band.

  • Well, I knew Ian was born in MA but they are always labeled as a Canadian band so I just go with that.

  • Actually, Ian was born in Toronto. But thanks for giving the credit to Canada for Big Wreck! I think they're fantastic. It's a shame they're not together.

  • My mistake. But I do see the US/Canadian connection. It surprises me that, if the band were indeed 75% American, they still weren't given much exposure here in the states. I had the privilege of seeing them in Vancouver, and discovering them through some friends... my ears are still ringing! I also wish they were still together but Ian's new band, Thornley, is similar. I am also a fan of Canadian bands IME, Econoline Crush, Wide Mouth Mason and many others... Some are still together, others not.

  • Every time I hear this one it makes me think of my friend who was killed in a car crash 5 years ago he loved this tune.

  • canadian cornell

  • contrived as perfectly as hell

  • The verses in this song describe to me perfectly what it's like to lose a girl and still always look for her.

  • and hate her for it.

  • Finally this video mannnnnnn!!! Thanks a lot, goes to my favourites. Awesome song, great band!

  • does anyone have the video Under The Lighthouse

  • great song for a great time period. makes you move on in a good way.

  • I love that song!!! Great song

  • I love that song

  • I love this song and Ian Thornley is so hot

  • i love this song

  • yeah this is that song a fuckin gem this comes from to my surprise one of the best cds i own

  • my favorite Big Wreck song; Ian Thornley is a very underrated song writer.

  • Aug. 98: All the good parts of that summer were over, I thought. Then I heard this song on a now-defunct mod-rock station. Who could this strange band be? I played the tape over and over on road trips the rest of the summer; bought the cassette from a mall that fall, not caring if the rest of the album sucked by comparison. I was not disappointed. Big Wreck's debut was solid all thru.

I wish I could go back to that year I first discovered "that song"-- riding around Mich cranking it in my car.

  • Summer of '98... the best summer of my life! This song sums up that whole time period for me.

  • OOOHHH YYYEEEAAAHHH!!!!!!

  • One of my favourites!!! Ian Thornley that is ;)...plus, I love that tune, man I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!

  • I love this SoNGGGGGGGGGGG!!! hahha lol

but for real I LOVE THAT SONG!
