@1996ej7 . U don't change the clutch. If u have the EXACT same thing my car HAD, then the clutch has nothing to do with it. You have to change the INPUT SHAFT BEARING in the transmission requiring u to take the transmission apart. I know, it's sad but I spent 35 hours doing it. I put back the transmission 3 times because the first 2 times the car didn't start and I lost 5th and Reverse Gear. 3rd time was the charm though.
how much would this cost if you took it to a mechanic? mine makes noise when in neutral and when i press the clutch the noise goes away, and i hear terrible noise when accelerating. 99 civic hatch
@kpbrian79 I'm just guessing but it might cost about roughly $500? The bearing itself was around $100 I think. But yeah, u have the exact same problem I had.
@TheNzzr Okay, if u have the EXACT problem I have in this video, then u have a INPUT SHAFT BEARING problem and that bearing needs to be replaced if you want to get rid of that hideous noise. For your window problem, it might be the window REGULATOR. I'm not sure though but it might be. I don't have power windows thats why.
@robertlee8181 It's the Input Shaft Bearing that's the problem in the video. I googled D16Y7 input shaft bearing and there was this one top website that was so so so detailed in explaining to how replace it
hey i have a 96 honda civic cx and it does the same thing. it also makes clanking noises when i first start accelerating or decelerate in second. i'm in socal. did u figure out exactly what was wrong and how much did it cost u??
@kristingrueter Yes i found it!! Fixed it about 11 months ago. It's the INPUT SHAFT BEARING!!! That son of gun! LOL. i spent about $100 bc i had to replace the MAIN SHAFT BEARING TOO because it completely broke when i disassembled it. for the INPUT SHAFT BEARING AND MAIN SHAFT BEARING, i had to go directly to the HONDA dealership. It comes with a seal too i think.
@GTRskylyne so did u do everything through the dealer or order online and pay them for labor? just looking for the cheapest way to do this because i am BROKE. lol
@kristingrueter I did EVERYTHING by myself. It took me 35 hours to do it. I took the transmission in and out 3 times! The first two times the transmission didn't work properly cuz like it didn't let me go into 5th and Reverse gears. 2nd time the fly wheel was jammed by a transmission fat bolt so I had to make a custom bolt for it and 3rd time was the chard.
It is the transmission input shaft bearing. All Hondas from the mid 1990's to 2004 may get this problem.I called Honda customer service (800)999-1009.The assistant said they have had many recalls for this on the ‘04 Civic, but the recall is specific to VIN numbers. To get it paid for & on the recall list you must file a complaint with these two websites & wait for their response. Then check with Honda. web sites are carcomplaints & safercar.Cant put links so google them.
@mustang1298 Dude! LOL. I fixed the problem and it took me at least 35 hours to fix it. It was the first time ever for me to replace tranny. I spent about $130-140 dollars on two bearing that I needed to replace. Input Shaft Bearing and Mainshaft Case Bearing [this one freakin broke and all the balls fell out, lol]. First time I opened tranny and replaced it, I could not go into 5th or Reverse gear. Second time, I could not start car cuz flywheel was stuck. 3rd time was charm.
i know for sure its the throwout bearing. it happened to my 98' honda civic. you should be fine for now. if you decided to replace that, mine as well replace the clutch while youre at it. oh btw your ek is stupid clean.. =]
@dizzyp209 For sure it was not throwout bearing. I fixed it already. THROWOUT bearing makes noise when CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED. INPUT SHAFT BEARING is when the clutch is ENGAGED [my car in the video].
@dizzyp209 btw, thanks for saying my car is clean. I clean my car EVERY SINGLE NIGHT that I drive the car which is basically almost every day. I am a car care freak and I really love EKs.
hey umm i got the same fucken problem with my 1996 hx do i have to change the clutch or just that bearing???
