Actually caribou is north american name for tundra deer which is the wild species that was tamed to being reindeer. Reindeers - thou living most of the year in wild - are half tame species and bred to being rather "dumb" (and easy to handle) compared to their wild ancestors.

No that is reindeer. The license plate are from here, Finland, and there's no caribous here in Scandinavia, just reindeers and rarely tundra deers which are the wild ancestors of bred and partly tamed reindeers.
